"Yet if there is a viable path toward a deal between both sides, the Lakers should be aggressive in making it happen. Even if that entails offering both of their tradeable first-rounders (2029 and 2031) and potentially even removing the protections of the 2027 pick already owed to Utah." This is from the Lakers SBNation, Silver screen & roll.
If this was a real offer should the Jazz take it?
I personally am of the opinion we should keep Kessler, with the exception of a blow away offer. This to me would be very close to an offer I think we should seriously consider.

Re: Walker Kessler
It would be a tempting offer. The Jazz would then have to decide if they plan on dragging on or simply pushing their rebuild by several years, which is why a deal for Kessler is complicated beyond just the value of a proposed trade. I think I'd prefer to trade him in a package for a star than in a package for more draft picks to be conveyed in 2, 4 and 6 years when the Jazz already have plenty of picks.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Tbh draft picks are how you get stars. If the Lakers are offering two unprotected picks and to remove the protections on the 2027 pick then I think we have to do it. A package of those Lakers picks + the Phoenix pick would be one of the best packages if a star became available.

But the Jazz already have plenty of picks, including several good ones. They already have the picks necessary to land a star. What they don't have are meaningful building blocks other than Markkanen (who is unlikely to stay long term because he might be traded) and Kessler. If they keep trading away young building blocks for more picks that convey in 2-6 years, they'll never be able to build good team. I do like the value of the trade, but the timing is not ideal, right as the Jazz are looking to add a top-3 pick to the roster.

We have a lot of picks, but the only *clear* premium picks are ours in 2025-2027, Phoenix's in 2031, and possibly Minnesota in 2027 (b/c the 2029 pick has some protection). If we trade for a star, our picks are no longer the foundation for that package, it becomes the Minnesota and Phoenix picks. Those and some marginal value may add a guy the caliber of Fox who asks out, but if Giannis/Jokic/etc. ask to be moved the three LAL picks + MIN pick + PHX pick is a package that likely won't be beat.
IDK it depends on what you want. I would not trade Kessler without a CLEAR overpay, but I think this is a clear overpay. If it is just one pick, a swap, and the protections removed on 2027 I am likely declining (albeit politely, because it is a solid offer).
