Favorite trades and draft picks

Post#1 » by FJS » Thu Jan 3, 2008 12:51 am

Ok, say what were your favorite trades or draft picks.
It's not valid to say: John Stockton or Karl Malone if at the time you weren't ok with that pick (I mean a lot of jazz fans were dissapointed with John pick)
So you have to say when you were more excited when you knew a player would play in a jazz jersey.

I liked the pick of Luther Wirght. I thought we were getting a very athletic big man who could score with a big upside. We ended up with a nut who played naked in rest areas with a big backside.

Best Draft Pick - Kirilenko (runner up Deron Williams, few people remember just how much "fans" whined when we picked Deron over Paul)

Best Trade - Jeff Malone for Jeff Hornacek

Wasn't Eaton drafted in like the 7th round? That has to be our best pick.

My favorite trade was the first international trade in NBA history, Dinner Bell Mel Turpin for Jose Ortiz, who unfortunately similar to Giricek, while talented was a bad fit for the Jazz.

Easy ...

Pick- Kirilenko was a straight up find. Late in the first round too.
Trade - J. Malone for Horny.

On draft day, I was stoked that we pick Deron over Paul. I can honestly say that on draft day, I was the most excited for that pick. If anyone really watched him take Illinois to the final four, they would have been excited too.

Favorite trade has to be the Horny trade. I couldn't believe that we got him for Jeff Malone. It is similar to this Korver trade, but I was stoked to get Hornecek.

Well since I wasn't really a huge fan of sports back in the early 90's I will say this.

I was stoked when we picked Dee, just thinking of having him run with Deron was awesome, and as for trade goes, it has to be this Korver trade. Once I heard the news i was ecstatic.

Least favorite pick: Raul Lopez. I felt sick when the Jazz made that pick.
Most favorite pick: I was actually pretty stoked to get Kris Humphries.

Least favorite trade: I can't think of a trade I didn't like.
Most favorite trade: Gotta be the Guiglotta deal. That was the one we got teh NY pick, wasn't it?

Least favorite move: Not matching on Mo Williams. I was PO'd when they did this.
Most favorite move: Trading up to get Deron Williams. I would have taken Paul, so not talking about the selection, but, rather the deal to move up.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Favorite trade: Eric Leckner (and Bobby hansen I think?) for Jeff Malone, which of course led to Jeff Malone for Jeff Hornacek.

Least favorite trade: Kris Humphries for Rafael Araujo. After watching Hoffa play at BYU and suck in Toronto, I really didn't want him on the Jazz.

Draft Picks are tougher, but I was mad that they traded up to get Borchardt when I really wanted them to take Boozer. I also loved the Dee Brown pick, but Jason Hart is just such a better option for us now. /sarcasm

Favorite Draft Pick: Deron. I liked Paul a lot too, but I was ecstatic about getting Deron.
Runner(s) Up: All three of our picks in the 2006 draft, and, for some reason, Kirk Snyder.
Least Favorite Draft Pick: Bordchardt. I just couldn't understand why we didn't pick Boozer.

Favorite Signing: Boozer
Runner Up: Memo. Let's just say I was real excited that offseason.
Least Favorite Signing: Well, actually it was a re-signing. I like some of the things that Harpring brings to the table, but I vehemently disagreed with giving a 30 year old with knee problems a 4 year, 24 million dollar contract, especially given the young talent we have on the wings and that hasn't changed.

Favorite trades: the trade for Fisher and the trade for Korver. I didn't really like how big Fisher's contract was, but I was really excited about bringing in a solid veteran with championship experience who also happened to be a huge upgrade over McLeod and Palacio. I was equally excited about getting a shooter of Korver's caliber.

Favorite Draft: Deron Williams
Least Favorite: Raul Lopez (I wanted Tinsley)

favorite trade: Rony Seikaly (we would have beaten the Bulls that year with him.0
least favorite:...Hard to say, we probably do the least amount of trades in the NBA.

Favorite signing: Probably Boozer...
Least favorite: either Jason Hart, or Pete Chilcut. God, what awful players.
