CJ Miles issue

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Jan 15, 2008 5:09 am

Miles has not played in last 2 games after he was playing so well. Is he in Sloan's doghouse? Sloan ruining this kid's confidence. Sloan even suggested to Miles he would be getting time and it was only one game of DNP. Sloan says he has 5 players for 2 positions. (Harpring, AK-47, Brewer, Miles, and Almond...he might mean Price instead of Almond). He simply cant grasp playing AK-47 some minutes at PF. But he has minutes for Jarron Freakin Collins. Sloan is simple minded an idiot!!!!

You obviously cant count...Harpring, AK, CJ, Brewer, Korver.

Listen one of either CJ, Almond or Harpring will be gone this summer. My thinking is CJ wont be back unless Matt has to up and retire(which I doubt). Or a team wants Almond or CJ as a young chip in a trade. The problem is that by the time we need CJ again he wont be in the groove he is in now. But Sloan isnt stupid in this case...he needed to make a move and sad to say he made the right one. Korver earned his PT with his D tonight. CJ is just to inexperienced, I wanna see the kid succeed, but I dont know if he can wait 2 more yrs for Matt to be gone.

I think if Matt has another problem with his knees/inflammatory meds, Harps will retire, he is just slowly but surely dying infront of our eyes, his body cannot hold up for that much longer and his minutes will be all but deteriorated by next season anyways so CJ will just have to wait, the man is 20 years old, he'll be fine.

My point is why is Collins getting his time with AK-47 moving over to Collins position. Dont tell me we need Collins' 1 rebound 4 turnovers n 12 minutes to win the game. Collins needs no time and Harpring less time.

Yeah Collins played like crap tonight, but we do need his D...AK cant draw charges on bigs. I think when the matchup presents itself you will see AK or Millsap, more likely Millsap in at C and when the matchup isnt there it will be Collins.

My point is that AK isnt strong at boxing guys out and going for boards. He is usally getting long boards or flying in for them. I would rather have Millsap then Collins and Millsap at the 4 over AK.

I agree, and Sloan has gone to that lineup plenty of times...

when the matchups favor it. The only reason he plays Collins is when we matchup up against big Cs, like Howard and Bogut tonight. If not, Collins won't see much if any time at all.

I'd use that lineup of yours, for a couple of reasons, the first one being NO COLLINS  EVER, and it would give a least a bit of PT to CJ who's earned it and Sloan himself has said so. Hopefully CJ can get at least a small crack at the rotation, afterall he did slam it down on Amare last time he played. ;)

There isn't enough minutes to go around as is! Of course CJ isn't going to be when all our other forwards and guards are healthy.

Toledo quit your whining. Think about this lineup:
C - Okur, Collins, Fesenko
PF - Boozer, Millsap
SF - Kirilenko, Harpring
SG - Hart, Price, Giricek, Brewer, Miles, Almond
PG - Williams, Hart, Price
:nonono:

Thats what was talked about in the offseason and thats what we were all dreading. We need to stop whining about Sloan in this case. He put a non shooting shooting guard as our starter. Then he played CJ even though CJ didn't show up for the RMR. Mix that in with all of us railing on him for how he treated Giricek, yet we got Korver in a trade who is playing well for us. Our weakest position on the team last year has now turned into a very deep fairly strong spot on the roster. He admits that CJ has earned time and frankly I feel bad for the kid, but its because we have quality guys there. They are playing better D and we have a shooter at the 2 now (granted he's been cold for a bit, but he'll get out of it). Be grateful its not Hart sucking up all the minutes while CJ rides the pine. I'm happy about the situation we are in now.

CJ is still so young and pretty raw, he'll be fine. This SHOULDN'T hurt CJ's confidence. I say shouldn't, but CJ is the one that has to decide. He can't expect with the roster we have to get minutes every night. This is where he needs to step up and prove that he needs to be in the game. He needs to do that in practice. But when CJ needs to step up to the plate in rough situations, we've all seen what he does... ahem... RMR anyone?

He's got a lot of learning and growing to do and this is by no means Sloan ruining his confidence. This is Sloan giving CJ the start while Kinky Linky was out and he didn't play all that well so Sloan goes to someone who will. We've been winning, the Jazz finally have confidence again, seems like Sloan is doing a little something right finally.

Its too bad CJ is the odd man out, but I'm not sure he can justify playing time over Brew, KK or Harpring.

The fact is, CJ is probably going to be playing elsewhere next year unless Ronnie Brewer gets traded. Its not even a knock against him, really. Its just the fact that the roster is too crowded at his position.

At the very least, they guy has finally started to show some improvement, so he will likely get a shot elsewhere instead of bing banished to some Euroleague team.

I would like to see Harpring retire after the season (not likely) and for Brewer to start getting minutes at the 3, but I still don't think that would give CJ any more minutes, since both Brew and KK should be playing about 30 miutes per game.

Although I absolutely adore CJs game and his potential... The reality is that right now Sloan has to do what is best for the Jazz, and if Korver can get acquainted and used to this position, and more importantly in rythm, then the Jazz will start winning more games and solidly. Having three guys will only make them be out of rythm and distracted with the tension whether or not they will be playing tonight.

As much as I like CJ, the Jazz definetly needed to stup juggling with minutes.

What else did he expect after his Fiasco with the review?

I'm sure his not playing left a GREAT lasting impression with the coaching staff.
