Why are the Jazz playing such bad defense this year compared to last year? Ak-47 is healthy and playing better than last year. Is Fisher abscence the reason? Is Williams unable to guard quick point guards? Dee Brown was a decent defender but he didnt play that much last year. Are the Jazz simply just lazy this year compared to last year? Are the Jazz playing too much zone defense this year? Last year 3 point shooters killed us. This year it is both 3 point shooters plus players driving down the lane for layups killing us.
It appears to me that Fisher's leadership demanding hustle and showing by example is missed. Jazz need to p/u a veteran leader to push these young guys...maybe a Brevin Knight or Sam Cassell because it is getting ridiculous seeing these players only work hard on offense.

Well, last night we were simply outran. When we give up easy baskets our defense looks worse than it really is.
I think one area we struggle with is turnovers leading to easy buckets. How many times did we turn the ball over last night due to lazy passes or ill advised penetration?
And frankly, I think Boozer is dogging it on defense. Maybe his foul trouble is weighing on his mind, but, a lot of the time out there he's playing with his hands in his pockets.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

First off you might want to fix up that title homie...it sound like a caveman wrote it.
The Jazz defense sucks this yr because we have absolutely quit on doing the intangibles. We dont hustle, we dont play team D and we just try and outshoot everyone.
This team doesnt rebound, it gives up way to many 2nd chance pts and pts off of turnovers.
Our defense is not any worse then it was last year, however, this season we are a considerable worse rebounding team then we have been in the last couple yrs.
Finally, this team is built like a team from the 90s and just from a purely athletic point it cant compete with some of these other teams. Kleiza should never and I repeat NEVER get 41 pts on you. We have players like Memo, Harpring and Collins that just cant hack it defensively in todays league and our players that can choose not to...Brewer, Boozer.

Yep there defense does suck, and no that is no different than last year. However like others said, rebounding has hit the crapper.

Sloan's goal is that he gets more perimeter based rather than the inside, like Okur and Boozer are. Last year, he would stack up the paint, and even before that, he would actually play PF for the Jazz. Having the success with his jumpshoot, it encourages him to define his zone to play closer to the outside of the court rather than on the paint.
