I hope Dallas gets Kidd

Post#1 » by pink22 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 7:00 pm

ESPN is saying it is getting closer. I think it makes them a weaker team if they have to give up Harris, Stackhouse and Diop. We would match-up with them better because DWill can guard Kidd better than Harris. Not that Harris is a world beater, but his quickness can give Deron problems. And they lose a spot up three shooter in Stackhouse and Dampier becomes their only real center. I think Cuban has regrets about letting Nash get away and thinks a 35 yr old PG who can't shoot is the answer. A huge mistake if you ask me.

Seems like a good trade for both sides. But, if NJ is going to trade Kidd, I would expect Carter gone as well.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

The big holdup seems to be the reluctance on the part of the Mavs to part with Diop. That would leave them with only Dampier at Center.

There is a huge opportunity to join this trade as a third team here...Diop is exactly what the Jazz have said is their only void (a defensive minded center). He's inexpensive and has an expiring contract. Perhaps the Jazz would be able to join the trade as a third party.

Jazz get:
Diop

Jazz send:
Jarron Collins (to Dallas)
Future draft pick (to New Jersey)

With all the youth on the team currently, the picks in the next couple of years aren't likely to be as crucial as previous years (especially if we remain in the high 20s).

Jazz lineup:
C - Okur, Diop
PF - Boozer, Millsap
SF - Kirilenko, Harpring
SG - Brewer, Korver
PG - Williams, Price

This would substantially strengthen the already best bench in the NBA, and better prepare the Jazz to handle some of the interior play of playoff opponents (Duncan and the Spurs, Gasol and Bynum and the Lakers, Shaq and the Suns).

Makes a lot of sense to me!

^I think the Mavs would much rather send Diop to New Jersey than to Utah. I doubt they want to make a move like this and have a side effect be improving a WC rival at the same time.

Mavs are stupid. Devin Harris is very promising, a young guy, who's only going to get better. Stackhouse and Diop bring them toughness they completely lack. I don't understand it at all.

Dallas gets Kidd, Suns get Shaq, and Jazz get....hm.... Seems like everyone in west panicing over this lakers trade and make a trade for no reason. Kidd is a below average point guard no better than what they already have....Shaq trade was a poor trade by Suns...Lakers improved yes but these teams trying to make trades for the sake of making trades is poor stupidity.

West conference is tough with several teams able to win it. It comes down to luck of the draw regarding match ups and who is hot down the stretch not making trades for the sake of making trades.

Completely agree, I fear meeting up with Dallas in the playoffs (w/out Harris and Diop) a lot less now. Plus, it makes them a lot older and sucks up a lot of coin in Kidd. Bad move for them, I believe..

But you have to agree that if there WAS a possibility of getting Diop for something like Collins and a pick, it would substantially improve our bench and overall team.

Why not look to add some defensive help to take some pressure off of Memo and Booz. Remember what happened to Memo when he had to play defense on Yao and Duncan for four quarters?

Now I agree that the Jazz are in no situation to panic. I just belief there is a door open. The Mavs are showing willingness to part with pieces in order to obtain Kidd. They are however concerned about not getting any bigs back in return (shallow bench down low). That's why they are looking for another team if possible to get this done. If the Jazz are the other team to get that deal done, then it's great for us.

Diop for Collins and a pick isn't just a trade to make a trade. I would do that trade in a 2nd as long as the pick was protected. Theres no way Dallas ships us Diop though. That is the ONE and only piece we are kind of missing. Just wait til Fes heats up a bit, and we won't have a hole on the team as long as we can keep it in tact.

Wow, another all-star to the West, it'll be interesting to see how if Dallas improves, I thought one of Dallas' strong points was their depth and now that's gone. Still though, Kidd and Dirk, that's a SCARY good combo.

All this trade does is keep D-Will from making the All-Star team for a few more years. JKidd will still be voted in year after year until he finally hangs it up.

Its tough when the top 5 PG's in the league are all in the West....
(No particular order) Nash, DWill, Paul, Kidd, and Davis.

I think they are... Jazz's december offset them by a lot, and now they are back just about two or three games behind Dallas. Dallas has an awesome home record cause Dallas is a boiler of Mavs fans, but other than that, they are not that great of a team. Look at the pwnishment by G-State.

If I were a Nets fan, I would be VERY happy.

Dallas just got older and thinner in depth.

Depends on the report.

Some say that it is: Stackhouse, harris, diop, ager, george, 2 first rounders, and $3 mil cash.

That is outrageous.

If the deal being reported on RealGM is legit, then Dallas just bowed out of the championship race. Kidd is definitely on the decline, has been far worse than Harris this year, and they gave away much of their depth to boot. New Jersey should be laughing all the way to the bank.

This is good news for us. Only one team in the west has built for not only now but the future(LAL) the rest of these teams are selling their future to win now. Being as our team is the 3rd youngest in the league we will be in prime contention in 3yrs when teams like Dallas, PHX and SAS will be on there last legs or needing to rebuild. Im more scared of Stack, Harris and Diop then Kidd. Dallas sold off all their depth.

Wow, Dallas gets older.

So, is Kidd gonna wear a Nets jersey in the All Star game?

Wow, there's some serious trades going down lately. I didn't think that Dallas(I personally prefer Dallass) could possibly get older.

Return to Utah Jazz
