Kobes finger still bothering him

Post#1 » by The Sheik » Thu Feb 14, 2008 5:53 am

Kobe Bryant's finger is still bothering him, and the Lakers star was set to see a doctor in Los Angeles on Thursday to determine whether he'll play in the All-Star Game this weekend.

Bryant, who dislocated his right pinkie last week, scored 29 points in 35 minutes in Wednesday's 117-92 win at Minnesota. Bryant sat out the fourth quarter and had the finger X-rayed after the game.

Coach Phil Jackson said he'd prefer Bryant not play in the All-Star Game. Bryant said he'll travel to New Orleans for the festivities, but he's probably out for the 3-point contest and isn't sure about suiting up for Sunday's exhibition.

"We'll see what doc has to say," Bryant said.

He was hit on the finger by Minnesota's Rashad McCants while the two were fighting for a second-quarter rebound. After the game, Bryant was wearing a black compression wrap on his hand.

"Every time it gets hit, it swells up again," he said.

Im not going to get my hopes up, but if he doesnt play does Deron get the AS nod? Or does Baron, Manu or Josh Howard get a shot?

Must be from fingering 18-year old hotel employees against their will.

What? Too soon?

Baron will probably get it... BUT considering Deron will be in town anyways for the Skills Competition, there is a slight possibility.

I think Deron deserves the spot ahead of Baron Davis, but the Golden State Warriors are the playoff caliber team in the West, without representation at the All-Star game. I think the league would take that into account with their pick.

I dont think Kobe will play, if he's out for the 3 point contest, he will probably be out for the ASG.

I would guess Baron gets the spot if it opens up. I think there are more GS fans than UT fans.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

If it was up to me, I'd be fair, and give it to Davis, considering his team's record is only a game and a half off of Utah, and that comes with the 7 game suspension that Stephen Jackson had to start the season. Given that GS has the 9th best record in the league, they deserve representation in the ASG. It's a shame that he didn't get the spot over Roy.

Another guy that I think Stern might consider putting in is Manu, whose been having pretty much a 20/5/5 season in 31mpg off the bench. It would be awkward to have bench player make the All-Star game over one of the top 5 PGs in the league, but it wouldn't be the first time.

If B-Diddy makes the ASG, I want to see Deron in the 3P shoot out.

If he doesn't participate in the 3-point shootout, I wonder if Kyle Korver will receive and consideration.

I wish he didn't play at all and rest his finger cuz otherwise it might get even worse.

Davis might play and has the most chances.
