I'm getting excited for the playoffs

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Fri Feb 15, 2008 9:27 pm

Jazz are playing well, and sitting only a few games out of 1st place in the West. If a few things go right, there is no reason to think that the Jazz couldn't finish 1st in the West.

I think Pho could stumble a bit without Marion, althought it looked like they didn't miss him much handing Dallas a loss the other day.

Dallas looks like they could stumble a bit if they trade 1/2 their team for Kidd.

San Antonio is struggling right now. Maybe they're not quite as good this year?

Lakers are dealing with an injury to Kobe. Will it slow them down? Most likely. Will the addition of Gasol offset it? We'll have to wait and see.

Denver is talking about adding Randolph. Not sure if that helps or hurts them.

New Orleans is enjoying being the team that everyone overlooks. I think that'll change pretty soon.

Houston will have a tough time improving enough to claim the top spot.

So, even after a HORRIFIC December, I am not convinced that the Jazz can't claim that #1 seed. I think a lot will come down to those last 6 games or so when the Jazz face about every playoff team in the West.

Whoa way to early. I think of this thread a lot like your midseason nuggets tread saying if we lost this game we were doomed. No offense.

I'm not excited for the playoffs at all now, go on ANY kind of slump and not only do we fall but we most likely fall out of the playoffs.

That being said the Jazz really could get the #1 spot, but its going to take us playing some awesome ball and a couple teams slipping I think.

Heh, yeah, I'm a little emotional when it comes to the Jazz.

Though it's possible, I don't see the Jazz getting the first seed.

The Spurs have always turned on the cylinders after the all-star break. They'll be much better when Parker is at full health too.

The Lakers have enough talent to take the first seed, and I'm not sure that Kobe's finger will keep him out of any games as it is now. He played Wednesday and played incredibly well.

That said, the Jazz should be able to surpass the Mavericks, especially if this Kidd trade goes down. The Shaq trade could potentially hut the suns too, but that's yet to be proven. O'Neal is really motivated right now. I also see the Jazz passing New Orleans.

So at my most optimistic, I see the Jazz in second or third place when it's all said and done. we'll see.

We should easily win 7 of our 13 road games left. There are 5 that could go either way and you would figure by luck we would win one or two of them.

We will be in the top 4 seeds. If we are the fourth seed we better have home court or we could be in trouble.

A little bit early, but I completely agree with jazzfan 1971.

I'm with you 1971, I am excited for the playoffs, but mostly because there are going to be a ton of great matchups. 5 games separates #1-8, so I think it really doesn't matter where the jazz end up in the playoffs, because the the #8 seed is still going to be tough. As long as the Jazz don't meet the spurs, I like their chances.

I am also pretty excited for the playoffs.

I think they way The Jazz are playing now that they can beat anyone.

On the other hand, we have to consider that we still have a long way to go, we need to beat Dallas, Lakers Suns and Spurs at their territory, not an easy task no question about it.

Anyway, lets wait and see if this is gonna be the year for us.

Regards.

the beauty of the west this year is that the top 8 or 9 teams are all convinced that they can be a top 3 or 4 seed.

then you've got all of these teams trying to pull off these superstar deals. its amazing. no clue who will even make the playoffs.

It won't. Kobe has been playing with it and seemed like the same old Kobe. (Check that 4-point play vs. Timberwolves)

Unfortunately for you guys though down the stretch teams are going to want to win, and knowing that Kobe has an injury on his hand is just going to make teams slap at the ball that much harder. A few good whacks to that hand and he will decide he wants that surgery that will keep him out 6-8 weeks.
