a concern about stern
he said he was optimistic about the knicks being better next year. im confused. why does a person in a position that he is in, want one team or another to be better next year? ya ya i know, knicks=big market and big market $$$=nba $$$ but optimistic for a better year for a specific team from nba commissioner??? smells funny to me.

it probally isnt a big deal, but for somebody in his position to publicly declare his optimism for a specific team.... i mean, he is the boss of the referees and the owners. he decides how the nba makes its money and also how to keep the game pure. he represents the league. does this mean the league favors the knicks?
like i said, smells funny that stern can be optimistic about a specific team.

My thoughts exactly. The media tends to take things that are said out of context (not saying this is the case here). So you always need to think about the logical thought process of things that were said. To say the Knicks will be better next year is to say they can't get any worse.....which is true.

personally, i don't like it, and im suprised that im the only one so far in a forum for a small market team. dont we have enough against us?
I know what youre saying. But eventually the truth that nobody outside of Utah (or lds members elsewhere) cares about the Jazz will set in, and once it does, you will simply stop caring about what everyone else thinks. You will simply grin year after year as one of the biggest underdogs (from a marketing and media-standpoint) in pro-sports history goes deep into the playoffs and its funny to actually see how the media and the league offices invent NEW ways to ignore the Jazz

I've actually heard Stern say that about the Jazz the year they went 41-41 saying that the Jazz are a feel good story when he sees them succeed. I have heard him say that about Boston, but I'm sure he wasn't pushing for a trade with KG to go through. It took a year or two after he said that for it to happen. Chances are the Knicks are going to blow things up and rebuild, so it'll be a few years. They can't get any worse, that is true.
