what has happened to Korver

Have opposing defenses figured him out?

his numbers the last couple games
min fg 3pt ft
K. Korver 6:11 0-1 0-1 0-0 vs, NO
K. Korver 14:13 1-4 0-1 0-0 vs. Detroit
K. Korver 17:44 2-3 1-2 0-0 vs. Minn

The past few games he has been a total non factor. It seems like defenders are getting up in his face and he freezes. He doesn't seem able to dribble out of pressure at all, and absolutely can't create for himself.

Thoughts?????

He's become afraid to play his game because of Sloan. For some reason, Sloan has decided that he doesn't want the the Jazz to shoot 3's anymore, specifically Korver, even though the Jazz played their best basketball of the season during the stretch where the team seemed like they had the green light to shoot. As a result, Korver is playing timid out of fear that if he misses a shot or has a turnover he's going to get yanked.

During this stretch of games where Sloan decided he'd rather play his way and lose than play to the teams strengths and win, the Jazz lost to the Clippers, barely squeaked out a win at home against the mighty Hawks, lost to the Timberwolves (wtf), and lost to the Hornets. And got lucky against the Pistons I might add.

So I put the blame 100% on Sloan, who after 20 years in the league can't accept the fact that there's a 3 point line.

Prediction: Korver plays 5 or less minutes tonight.

Sloan has fallen in love again with harpring, how can you blame him? The guy used to play football you know.

IMHO he hasn't had an open look lately. Those first few games he got much better looks, I think teams have adjusted.

I tend to disagree... there was been serious matchup problems in the last couple of games.

Rashad McCants was too strong for him...

Joe Johnson or Marvin Williams were too strong for him..

Rip Hamilton was way too small and quick for him and Tayshaun Prince is known to be the anti-Korver, just like Ben Wallace was the anti-Shaq.

He wasn't giving help with Paul, then, Pargo who is much smaller and quick challenged his defense again like with Rip. Plus Sloan's idea was to pound it in inside and no outside shots, and it worked, until Kirilenko's and Okur's perimeter shots in the last 3 minutes of the ballgame. May I remind you too that Pargo had a field day with Korver back in Utah.

Korver is finally settling in and becoming the mediocre defender he was supposed to be since being traded. What's scary, is that he was the last part of our chemistry to make the team work, with him off, we look just like before he came. Sloan has to find a way to get him back on his defensive mind and in the game.

Just notice what has happened the last 5 games since the Jazz came from the All-Star break... they are inconsistent since they don't have Korver in the game.

Shooters get cold. It happens. I don't foresee it being permanent.

Obviously, Korver can't guard Mike James or Jannero Pargo, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't play. I mean, he can play small forward. He's certainly not a great defender, but he's better than Harpring and his outside shooting is (IMO) a bigger asset than Harpring's mid range/low post game, which was nowhere last night anyways. We are a much better team when Korver's playing good minutes and getting a lot of shots up.

You are out of you freaking mind. Call me a blind sloan homer all you want, but you are even a more blind sloan hater if you belive this. He HAS been playing just hasnt been making shots, and when he isnt making shots he doesnt play as hard, and we don't look for him as much. DERON is the one who calls the plays for korver when korver is hot but korver isnt hitting so he isnt getting his plays called for him.

Look at the stats on 3's over the last few games before you make these stupid statements jackass.

Against NO 3-16 on 3's, I don't think sloan had a problem with us shooting 3's.... Korber attempted a 3.

Against Minny 6-13 on 3's, Korver still got up 2.

Against LAC 0-13 on 3's, Korver went 0-3.

We are attempting A LOT of 3's in case you didn't notice we are just not making them, and when you aren't making them is stupid to just keep chucking them up.

What a shocker, you were proven wrong just 6 minutes into the 2nd. Korver didnt play much last game because of his hissy fit during the Detroit game.

Tabasco.. your comments were silly. You think that the 3 point line is more effective than multiple points on the paint.. After 20 years, he hasn't fallen in love with the wrong addiction.

I think you read way to much into that. He didnt play cuz he wasnt getting open and couldnt guard Pargo and or Mike James.

No I don't think the 3 point line is more effective than points in the paint and no where did I ever say that. It is a tool that can be used, however, to open up the paint for more of those easy points.

And when I said Sloan hasn't acknowledged the 3 point line, I meant both offensively AND defensively. He doesn't like to shoot em and he doesn't like to defend em.
