I personally consider Deron the best player from both of them. I would consider Andrei Kirilenko too. When he is included on the offense and defense, he can be just like Kidd.. daily triple double, and the best defender from the three of them.
But since we are not counting Kirilenko.. yes, I think Deron makes Boozer, and chicken was first and then the egg.

Historically since Deron took the reigns as PG last year, the Jazz have never won a game in which he hasn't played. Last year, after that injury to Boozer of the Knee collision with Chandler, the Jazz went on a 8-0 run.
Point taken.

Deron is better. Boozer still has many many weaknesses in his game. I hope him going to the All-Star game and him becoming a double double machine every night doesnt raise his ego to the point where he doesnt have to improve. His defense has been better, but he needs to do a better job on help defense and boxing out his man.
That and his hands and holding onto the basketball is a weakness as well. Sometimes when he catches it or goes into the lane, it's like his brain completely shuts off.
Deron is averaging 19 points and 10 assists in only his 3rd year. Isn't that scary? The scary part is, those numbers could even be higher and he's got room for improvement as well. When comparing Deron to Boozer however, Deron is more talented and Deron in my mind, has more of the will to improve his game.

Different kinds of players. Boozer might be our best player in terms of production and efficiency, but Williams is our MVP. We would struggle much more without Williams for a stretch than without Boozer, and not just because we have Millsap to replace Boozer, but because the PG position is so vital to Sloan's system, and hell, to any team IMO.

Deron and Booz are very much like Stockton and Malone in that they compliment each other well. The PG can't get assists unless he's got finishers and scorers can't get buckets if the PG doesn't get them the ball at the right time. But if I had to give up one of them it would be Boozer. Deron is amazing now, in a couple of years he's going to be errr, more amazing. I don't see Boozer changing much.

Most will say Deron, but its hard to seperate his importance to the team from how "good" he is as a player. Deron's absence would kill this team, while Booz could easily miss time and we wouldn't be that much the worse for wear.
However, I think Boozer is slightly better at what he is supposed to do (score inside, rebound, draw double teams etc) than Deron is at what he's supposed to do. However, they are both dominant players, so that is not a knock.
However, Deron is undeniably the more important player to the team, and will likely surpass Boozer in skill and production within a couple of years.

One was taken 3rd. One was taken 35th. Boozers last coach considered him nothing more than a role player.
I guess you could say Boozer has played better than anyone expected, he's exceeded expectations more. But, I think Deron is developing the ability to take over a game. I don't think Boozer will ever have that ability.
My vote - Deron.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Deron is the best player by a good margin. But when I say that let that not undermind what C-Booze does for the Jazz. That guy is a real stud, is super efficient and definitely a top 5 big man in the game today.
The truth is Deron is just better, anytime you have a quarter back with that kind of understanding of the game, and the will to win that Deron has it's hard to beat as far as a players value to a team.
Boozer is great, but Deron is better.
