Would your GM trade Deron for the 1st pick?

Am a Heat fan, that was thinking of ways making the Heat better. And an idea popped into my mind. To get Deron Williams somehow. The Heat really need a poinguard.
The fact the Heat might end up with the worst record, gives them the highest possible chance of them getting the first pick.
I was thinking if it would be possible to acquire Deron.
This years draft is flooded with talent.
I just want a proven guy, but that is still young though.
number 1 pick, plus add something here and there.
This years class has huge prospects.
Another point I want to ask, how certain is it, that Deron is going to extend his contract? Could this entice Utah to trade him, because they might lose him in a couple years.
Just wanna hear from the Utah fans, to see if you think your management would bite for this deal.
Am not asking if you guys want to trade him or not. Am pretty sure you wouldn't. Am asking, would your management be willing to trade him for a number one pick, plus maybe add a little extra to go along.

That is why we wouldn't do the trade. We obviously wouldn't do it for Beasly cause we'd have a HUGE void at PG and just stockpile more at the SF/SG spots which are deep as is, and for Rose? Nah, WIlliams is a sure thing, I doubt that Derrick Rose can just come in and give us 19ppg 10apg 1spg and the insane %s that Williams gives us. The truth is that Chris Paul and Deron Williams are like the Jason Kidd's of yesterday, not many new PGs come into today's league and make a mark this fast, and while maybe Rose can, what's the point? I mean Chris Paul is an MVP candidate, and most Jazz fans, including I, wouldn't trade for him.
EDIT: And executives wouldn't either.

I think Deron has as much value, if not more, than Wade right now. Would you trade Wade for the number 1 pick in this year's draft?

How sure you guys are that Deron is going to stay with you guys after his rookie contract is over?
Wouldn't taking the 1st pick get you more, than one more guaranteed year of Deron after this year is over.
Your organization would have to be extremely sure that Deron is not planning to hit free agency to pass up on this deal.

I like Deron and all, but Wade has proven to be a Finals MVP. Deron's potential, is to be slightly below Chris Paul through his career. Wade has more potential than Deron, and has done more than Deron throughout his career.
And why would I give Wade, when Wade is already in my team?

The only reason wade has a finals mvp is he plays in the east and the east conf finals team always gets a beat down west conf finals team. It has been happening since the 80's. The east only has two teams a year that really deserve to be in the playoffs anyhow.

WOW man, just WOW. Did you also go to te New Orleans board to ask for CP3? Why would we trade our franchise player for the #1 pick? We are the 4th place team in the west and we decide to trade our best player away, because ignorant fans dont realize Derons value. Just stop now, cut your loses and we will pretend you never came here with this stupid BS. Focus on losing so you can get Beasley or Rose, then focus on how your gonna keep Fade, because if Fade is as good as you say, there is no excuse for your team to be as crappy.
Deron isnt going anywhere.

Deron will stay with the Jazz after his rookie contract for a couple of reasons.
1. The Jazz can offer him the most money.
2. He is already the face of the team and pretty much controls what they do.
3. They are as close to a championship team as pretty much anyone on the league with a few exceptions, and those teams wouldn't be able to afford him.
So basically he's the star on a winning team that can pay him the most money, he will stay.
And now, the Jazz wouldn't trade him for the #1 pick unless they were getting a sure fire superstar center a la Shaq when he was coming out.

I am not worried a bit about Deron resigning. I don't think I'd trade him for the #1 pick unless thre was a surefire superstar there. Like a Duncan or Lebron.
The fact that you are thinking of moving the top pick tells me that there is no surefire superstar there.

bingo.
There are actually a lot of very good prospects, but they arent for sure. This draft looks a lot like the one from 2 yrs ago. Beasley is the Brandon Roy of the bunch and everyone else is one of those "potentially" players.

If Wade is soo terrific why can't his team win a game more often? Just asking.

At the risk of piling on, there isn't anyone at all in this upcoming draft that would cause me to seriously think about trading Deron for at all. Not even particularly close.

It's a hypothetical question. Would you trade Dwyane Wade for the number 1 pick in this year's draft? I'm pretty sure you're gonna say no. What I'm saying is that Deron's value is close to Wade's right now. And I believe everyone in the Jazz organization and also the fans will be shocked if Deron leaves the Jazz. They are really close to being a contender, Deron is the leader of the team and they can offer more money than anyone else. Why would he leave?
If you want someone to trade their PG for the number one pick, go to the Bulls board and ask if they wanna trade Hinrich and their pick for the number 1 and filler. They might go for it.

KoC wouldn't do this deal unless he wanted to be hung by his scrotum from Moroni's trumpet on top of the temple.
The Jazz have been looking for Stockton's successor for too long. There's no way they're trading him or letting him get away. NO WAY.

I swear it's like people see Paul and somehow devalue what Deron is doing, even though he's putting up 19 and 10 in his third year. He could finish the year with 20 and 10.

Dude, you would have people thinking your crazy even if you posted this on the Heat board.

You guys quit being asses. The guy might be a little miss guided, but he was very polite and clearly wasn't trying to incite anything here.
Normally, the #1 pick in the draft would have me thinking long and hard about trading anyone, even Deron.
However, that's because most year's there is a dominant big guy coming in that can anchor a team like no other type of player can. Yao, Howard, (people thought) Bogut, Oden.....I would seriously consider trading Deron for both Howard and Oden, wouldn't you? As great as point guards are, look at the greatest to ever play...Stockton, Kidd, Payton, Nash....most of the time, if your PG is the best player on your team, you aren't going to win it all. But if you have a dominant scorer/rebounder/shotblocker to build your team around, your chances just got a hell of a lot better.
Even then, though, it would be like ripping my heart out to trade him. With the makeup of this team, we need a playmaker at the PG position to make everything work. Trading Deron for Oden would be great for our interior D, but then we would have to turn around and trade Memo for a solid PG like Hinrich, Harris or CP3(:P)....

I don't think there's any way Derons leaving within the next 3 years.
