The Jazz are slowly but surely becoming an elite NBA team. The Jazz already have a better record than the Mavs and Suns who were considered championship contenders at the beginning of the season and have beaten both teams during the past week. The Jazz have already proven they can beat the Rockets with Yao. Even with Houston's long winning streak if the Jazz and Rockets meet in the playoffs the Jazz should prevail without Yao. The Jazz have a psychological edge against GS and the Jazz have also been successful against Denver and New Orleans. The Spurs are beginning to age and may be vulnerable against the Jazz in the playoffs. If the Jazz were to reach the finals and meet the Pistons they also have psychological edge against them having swept them for last few years.That leaves the Lakers who thanks to the Grizzlies will have front line of Byum, Gasol, and Odom to matchup against the Jazz frontline along with of course Kobe for whom the Jazz have no answer.

You still have to play the games though.....

But yeah, I dont think anyone outside of LA is too happy with the Memphis Grizzlies....then again, we got Korver for Gira, so I guess you could say thanks to Philly for all our recent success.......

Well, speculatively, by that reasoning the Grizz may have cost a lot of teams the championship But let's see what happens.

Offensively Odom hasn't been to efficient, and Bynum has gotten better, but the key will be the speed of Boozer getting Bynum of foul trouble, considering how Bynum is also not playoff proven. Neither is Gasol. Gasol is long but known to not be too good defensively. Also Gasol is the type of player that Okur and Boozer play good against. Bryant will keep raping Brewer (Eager to see him almost after a full season if he can become the anti-Kobe) and Korver.

What has stopped us against the Lakers has been packed zone defense... Bye Gira, and hello Korver.

The only thing that can keep us back from winning a series against them has to be inside defense, and also Okur has to keep his fire for this post-season.

Not only is bynum not playoff proven he isn't even pau proven, he hasn't played at all since they got gasol. The blazers a few years back were the perfect example of too much talent on one team we'll see.

I think their depth is important too, and when you come think about it... who is their 2nd string C... DJ Mbenga.

To me, the Spurs are still easily the team to beat, and I would 1000x prefer to play the Lakers than them. Personally, I think they're still "riding the wave", so to speak, of the trade, along with playing a bit of a cupcake schedule. Don't get me wrong, I think they are in the conversation for best team in the league.

Still, there's no guarantee that Bynum will ever get back to his level of play earlier in the season.....if he even comes back, which is NOT a lock by a long shot. As currently represented, I would probably take the Jazz in a 7 game series against them, though with Kobe in the mix nothing is impossible.

But the Spurs......they are still the bully until we prove differently.

They may have handed LA 4-5 championships with that trade.

Yeah Memphis made a pretty damn poor move, but w/e. I really feel that Memphis should have traded for Marion.

The Spurs are the team to beat. For us SA and LA stand in the way. This upcoming Boston game will be huge to see how good we really are, and to see how we'd fare vs Boston in a series.

Popovich in SA is pushing for a trade committee that reviews all NBA trades to view if they are fair enough. I was shocked to find out that they didnt already have one.

I know that Tim Duncan signed an extension where he is gonna get paid slightly less of what Boozer is making, with the intent of keeping and bringing talent to San Antonio for the 5-8 years that he might have left.

I fking hate the Grizzlies now even more than before the trade. I absolutely can not believe that a team can make such a bad trade. I hope that the Grizzlies get replaced by another team in a deserving place like OKC.

It originated in Vancouver. Where there are actually Grizzlies. There is stupid cowboy music here in Utah, and there is no Jazz in Utah, but there is and was Jazz in New Orleans.

It is a one of the issues with moving franchises.

sorry hate to burst your bubble, but the jazz could lose in a 7 game series to more than just the lakers. How about those spurs? I heard that we kind of haven't won in SA for oh.......9 years. Think that might be a problem in a 7 game series where SA has home court advantage. Brushing off Houston's 19 game win streak is also a little short sighted, they have beaten some really good teams in that time. Blaming the grizzlies does nothing, teams only have themselves to blame. If Pau could have been had for so cheap, why didn't another team make a more lucrative offer?
