How bad would we suck balls?! We would have probably taken Martell Webster! Oh god, this wire tap is as scary as a what could have been as the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Jazz would have been screwed if they hadn't been able to move up to 3. NO was looking PG and so was Charlotte so they weren't going to be trading. Definitely would have been an ugly situation. Maybe then they have to keep McLeod or someone longer.

We might have landed Felton.

Well we would have had Danny Granger and David Lee on this team instead and who knows we might have had a shot at Brandon Roy as well.

It looks like the Jazz weren't the only team that coveted Deron Williams.

Funny, if Portland would have taken Deron or Chris, we could have been the ones with Oden. That same summer was when Boozer and Memo signed. We would have had McLeod for another season, but after that we would have gone after a guy like Jack and Blake. We would have been each others team swapped.

Well I can't complain given how things are turning out for PDX. It just goes to show how a crappy GM like John Nash can set an organization back significantly. Our current GM was Dir of Player Personnel that year and he lobbied hard for the Blazers to keep and use the 3rd pick on Chris Paul.
Telfair is the sole survivor from his first draft class. He also picked up two Russians in Sergei Monia and Viktor Khyrpa who are back in Europe. He did give us Ha, who has great for knocking people down and endless comedy.
Of his next choices, Jack is OK, but not really part of the future. Martell Webster is starting to come around, but his ceiling is at best a 15 and 7 guy who hits 45% from 3. No where close to D-Will or Paul, but Oden, LMA and Roy are good compensation for missing out on one of those two guys.

I think Victor Khryapa was the most underatted player to be ingored and be kept in Europe. Navarro, and Scola being the others. The only difference is that if Scola or Navarro would have gone to Portland or Chicago under their conditions, they would have finished the same way as victor.

Well we probably would have gone for Paul. We might be better or maybe a little worse, but not a big difference either way.

Have to give KOC credit for talking a division rival into that trade.

Paul went 4, not 6. NO wanted a PG and wouldn't have traded. Doubt CHA with Felton would have either.

Kudos for Jazz brass.
It's clear now Jazz and Hornets got the best of that draft, two stellar real leaders that ride their teams take games over onto their own.
Andrew and Marvin... for the basketball goddesses sake!!! How many wins they got for their teams? Are they stellar leaders? Wasn't that so obvious?

I would like to note this...
Bogut = Bustish
Bargnani = Busty
Oden = Bustlike
The number 1 picks have been terrible for the last three years.

Uh, no. Bogut's been a pretty good C, Bargnani's been inconsistent, and I don't know how a guy who hasn't played a game in the NBA due to injury could be considered anything like a bust.
