This will make your blood boil re: ESPN/Paul/Williams

Taken from a post on Jazzfanz with the same title:

From todays Daily DIme

Chris Paul scored 20 points with 16 assists in the Hornets' 118-111 win at Toronto, to finish the month of March with 199 assists. Over the last 10 seasons, the only player to record 200 assists in any calendar month is Steve Nash, who has done it three times (Jan. 2005, Jan. 2006, and Dec. 2007).

Well, guess what?

I just counted, and Deron WIlliams had 212 assists in March

Yes, thats 13 more than Chris Paul.

And Deron broke the 200 assist barrier. The only player besides Nash to do it in the last 10 years

So why didnt ESPN mention this? I am disgusted. I have posyed this injustice on the Daily Dime conversations board.

Here is the link if you want to tell ESPN how much of a pathetic joke they are.

From another Jazzfanz post in that same thread:

The last time John Stockton had 212 assists or more in a month was January 1992.

As far as I can tell, that was the last time anyone had more than 212 assists in a month.

Everyone should go to ESPN and let them know how ridiculous it is for them to totally ignore Deron like that....

Deron did play one more game, but the fact that he was completely overlooked when he actually got to 200 assists and Paul didn't is just plain ridiculous.

I turned on the game last night to catch the end of the game and saw the last 4 minutes or so. Then SportsCenter was coming on shortly so I tuned in to see the highlights.

After watching for nearly an hour and seeing everything from NCAA final four matchup analysis, women's tournament highlights, MLB opening day stories--some more than once within that hour, Baseball Tonight previews, NFL draft and free agency discussions, some NBA games--the show was getting ready to transfer into Baseball Tonight--NO MENTION of the Jazz game which had ended a half hour earlier in a 42 point win over the Wizards--a 5 seed in the East. I went to be disgusted I had just wasted an hour of my life.

So I got up this morning and turned on ESPN News--surely they would mention the game, right? I caught the last few minutes of the show and then at the bottom of the hour they started over. I watched from 7:30am until about 7:55am and STILL there was no mention of the Jazz game--unless it happened during the 3 minutes I went out to take the garbage can out to the curb. :x

CP3 and DWIlly are both amazing players who will put up great numbers throughout their career. In the end they will be compared by who wins the most championships.

As Jazz fans we always feel slighted by the national media, it goes back through the Stockton/Malone days, so I'm not surprised by this. Hopefully, things like this will help Deron to continue to play with a chip on his shoulder.

No joke. It's all true.

ESPN removed the CP3 story after several irate Jazz fans blasted them for not mentioning Deron. They replaced it with a story about the Raptors making 17 shots in a row against the Bobcats.

So, if CP3 comes close to 200 assists in a month (but doesn't quite get to 200), it's huge news and means he should win the MVP. If they later find out D-Will got well over 200 assists that same month, it's time to bury the story. They couldn't just edit it and add that D-Will actually did it. No, they have to take the whole story down and replace it with a totally different story about the Raptors/Bobcats game.

Chris Paul was just named player of the month. In the announcement, it says:

Paul led the Hornets to an 11-4 mark, averaging 24.0 points, 13.3 assists and 2.67 steals. Paul collected at least 10 assists in 12 of the Hornets

Well, we should all be used to this by now as Jazz fans, so you can't too worked up about it. Still, it's frustrating. The good thing is, we've consistently seen that being slighted only makes Deron play better. Hopefully, losing out the player of the month award will add to his resolve to prove everybody wrong.
