Especially if a win means we play the Spurs in the first round. This is a very possible scenario, especially now that the Suns have the tiebreaker over the Spurs.

Would you rather have homecourt against the Spurs in the first round, or no homecourt and a matchup with the Suns or Rockets?

I know which one I'd prefer... but even so, if we win these next three games, we might be able to afford to lose @ SA and still have homecourt over PHX/HOU.

2 points render this thread as a little pointless:

1. Shanking a game is the diametrical opposite of everything Sloan is and stands for. He would resign, have an aneurysm and sponatneously combust before anything approaching this were to be allowed to happen.

2. The game is in San Antonio. How tired are the Jazz of hearing they can't win there? If the Jazz come in and win this game in SA, what do they have to fear from the Spurs anyway in the 1st rd of the playoffs?

I've been predicting that this year the Jazz will break the losing streak in San Antonio, and I want to see it happen. Say we win that game we go into the series with momentum and homecourt advantage; i think we take the series.

The Spurs, sadly, aren't who they used to be...this isn't last year's Jazz either.

I think we should win as many as possible and let our opponents be chosen by the system. We can beat any other team when we play up to our potential.

I would rather have HCA against the Spurs in the first round then non first round series against the Suns.

They are clicking right now, and I know we have beat them, but that was relatively early in the trade, they are a much better team now then they were then. Winning in San Antonio is difficult, and the whooped them yesterday.

Either the Suns are a lot better, or the Spurs are dropping. I'll take the Spurs in Utah.

It's possible but the bigger picture for me is for the Spurs, or someone else to hopefully knock the Lakers out. If the I favored the scenario, I'd root against us. I've actually been thinking about this for a while.

And on another note, we might have been better off losing @ NO. Pretty much locks them in the 1 seed and us in the 4 seed. HCA In the first round is not a necessity.

What's that going to do to the team's psyche, if sloan were to say hey let's lose this game because I don't want to play them in the playoffs?

If the Jazz where to go into SA and punch the spurs in the mouth and win a game that means something to the spurs I'd gladly take them in the first round with homecourt.

Also if the Jazz beat SA in a 7 game series in the first round, think about what kind of mind set that would put the Jazz in.

If we cant win a 7game series against the spurs or the lakers (or anyteam) we have no business in the playoffs. Play to win only, if we get the easy way thru, ill take it, but if we get spurs or lakers, bring them on

I don't want anything to do with the Spurs or Lakers in the first round, but there's no way we half-ass this.

my head is about to explode with all the playoff scenarios. i want to avoid Spurs and Lakers as much as the next guy but we should have been winning our games in december and clinch the No.1 seed instead of going thru mathmatical calculations and entertaining ridiculous ideas such as tanking.

since we didnt win games in december, best we can do is win as much as we can and hope all the stars align our way.

I don't care who you are playing in the first round of the playoffs or what position you want in the draft, tanking is WRONG! We should NOT tank against San Antonio.

Whatever. I still hope you all are optimistic about our chances vs San Antonio after seeing us give Dallas only their 3rd win against a winning team since getting Kidd.

I believe that we can beat the Spurs, but only under one condition. We win in San Antonio on the 16th. If we lose that game, than none of the guys are gonna come to play, and I don't see us wining a game in San Antonio for at least another year. On the other hand, if we DO win, I really think that it can put enough confidence into the Jazz that they have a good shot. We have good matchups on San Antonio, and the Jazz have risen since last season, whereas the Spurs have sunk a little bit. I'm not making any promises or guarentees, but I really think we have a good shot at San Antonio if we win on the 16th.
