I didn't feel like making a big thread out of this so here it is.

Most likely, if the Jazz win we get HCA in the first round against the 6th seeded Spurs.

If we lose we go to Houston to play in the first round.

Do we win? Do we lose?

If the Jazz are as good as we think they need to prove it. Sloan would never let his team tank. Plus if we can knock them off early when the spurs just arent at the top of their game that might be best for us. If they beat us then fine, but I dont want to see Boozer and deron only playing 20 minutes and just handing the game over.

I think I like the Blazers upsetting the suns more so.

Remember, that means the Jazz have to win 3 games in a row against the Spurs. And they are back to back to back, no other teams in between. That is a hell of a task.

is espn high on something or just stupid? they say that the spurs have CLINCHED the third seed. um... no they haven't. if the jazz beat them on wednesday, the jazz will get the three seed because utah and san antonio would have identical records with the jazz holding the head-to-head tie breaker. the jazz are likely to win 55 games and still can't get any respect from ESPN. what a bunch of biased buttholes.

I would rather have homecourt against the Spurs and play the Hornets in the second round. I dont like playing the Lakers in the second round if we beat Houston. Im hoping the Hornets lose to tomorrow to the Clippers because we might be able to get the #2 seed. Wouldn't that be something if the Clippers upset the Hornets and Rockets.

The Spurs scare the hell out of me honestly. Not that the Jazz couldn't beat them, especially with HCA.

But hey, if you can beat the Spurs in the playoffs you can beat anyone, and if the Jazz did win all of a sudden facing the Hornets is nothing.

Could be a huge momentum builder, could be a colossal let down. I just can't wait for it to happen.

Will Manu play or not..some people said he would not but the kings announcers said he will play on Wednesday

I watched most of the San Antonio-Sacramento game. Duncan was really on this game, hitting bank shot after bank shot he really set the tone as San Antonio got off to a hot start. But once the bench players came in they really sputtered on offense. Barry airballed some 3's, Vaughn lbricked some shots, as did Kurt Thomas. Stoudamire didn't even play and he has been struggling mightily.

The jazz have a better bench than the spurs. They rely on their starters a ton. If manu is out that really hurts them against a team like us. Remember this team got clobbered by the phoenix suns in san antonio just a week ago. We have a real chance this game.

The Jazz would own the Spurs bench, even with Ginobili playing.

I think the Jazz could beat the Spurs with HCA.

LETS GO JAZZ!!!

I agree plus who knows maybe the Suns or Rockets drop their final game. But if utah can win in san antonio wednesday that is a huge confidence booster considering its been what 9 years? Not to mention the Jazz probably need to play a good team in round 1 so they can be prepared for the next round. If we just ran through the rockets we might get crushed by LA. So heres hoping that the Hornets beat the mavs unless they blow it against the clippers. so we can have this;

1-lakers
8-mavs

4-rockets
5-suns

3-jazz
6-spurs

2-hornets
7-nuggets

Alright, so new info has been brought to my attention and my OP may be incorrect.

***Here is another theory on the placing with this tie breaker***

If the Jazz win they will automatically get the 3 seed.

Then it comes down to some strange rules with Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix.

Since no team holds the outright tie breakers in head to head match ups the NBA will look at who has the best winning % against both other teams.

In that case the Suns have 5 wins and 3 losses against the these two teams and would claim the 4 spot.

From there, since the Suns have been taken out of the equation and the ties would have been broken, they would re-evaluate the tie.

From there the Spurs and Rockets tied the season series 2-2, but San Antonio would win the tie with the higher divisional winning percentage. Meaning the Spurs would go to 5 and the Rockets go to 6!

If that is how they do it, and in all honestly that makes the most sense then if the Jazz win we face the Rockets in Utah to start the playoffs. If we lose we start the playoffs in Houston.

I think this game is really important regardless of the ramifications. I think it would be great to Utah to get in a series with SA, because if we can win it will be the signature moment that begins the Deron Williams Era and it dethrones the champs and may be the nail in the coffin for the Spurs Dynasty.

I think this is the biggest regular season game in "new" Jazz history.

and it calls for a slump buster special...

There is no Brent Barry to burn the Jazz during the start of the playoff series. I say we win this, and make the Spurs feel it.

Are you sure it is the divisional record that is looked at? As far as I know it is the conference record that matters.

Both Houston and San Antonio have a conference record of 32-19 at the moment. If we and Houston win, then the Rockets will have a better conference record, which drops the Spurs to 6th seed.

Divisional record is considered first. Look here. It's indeed extremely confusing though...

1 Lakers
8 Nuggets

4 Suns
5 Spurs

3 Jazz
6 Rockets

2 Hornets
7 Mavs

If it came out that way, we'd have no excuse to miss the WCF. That would be an incredible bracket for us. Only having to beat one of the Lakers, Spurs, or Suns to get to the NBA Finals? That seeding would be a gift.

Obviously, we still have to come out and play. The Rockets, Hornets, and Mavs aren't exactly garbage. We'll have to play at a high level to beat them.

But man...
