Help save the Sonics (and the NBA)!

Post#1 » by SaltyDawg » Wed Apr 16, 2008 5:04 pm

This is a post from Jazzfanz. I didn't write it (I did sign it though), but I think the word needs to be spread...

Please move this if this is more fitting for an NBA discussion. But I believe it affects Jazz fans as well. As many of you may know the vote on whether to move the Sonics happens tomorrow, April 17. I run http://basketballjohn.com and the the Sonics fans are asking fans to write their owners and ask them to speak with the Board of Governors to persuade them to vote no on the move. You can visit http://sonicscentral.com and http://saveoursonics.org for more information.

I figured it would be easier to write one letter and add signatures than it would be to persuade everyone to write one. While e-petitions are generally lame, I think this is a good cause because it could happen to the Jazz some day.

So please read the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/jazzfan/petition.html and sign if you agree. It's a bit late but we can do what we can.

Thanks.

Sorry if this is spammy.

Every NBA fan of ANY team should be signing a similar petition right now.

Jazzfanz is full of intelligence lacking homers.

But the sonics deserve our support, although it won't make much of a difference.

Signed. It's always a shame when a city loses a team (I live in Vancouver, so I know)...but as more and more details come out about this Clay Bennett business, it goes from "shame" to "intolerable". What a disgrace.

I hope this doesn't go into spam lists... cause I have a feeling it will.

I really think that the Sonics should stay put. OKC is a good city and everything, but I think that Seattle needs a little bit longer to prove themselves. Even more than that though, I would love to see the NBA add a few more teams and change up the conferences and divisions and stuff.

Yeah, like this place is somehow a complete 180.

120, not 180, but we can't change it. Why? Because we are actually in contact with other fans, from other teams, and due to the diverse fanship is that we are able to have better judgement than in a forum full of people with one mindset.

Signed. If the Jazz left Utah, things just wouldn't be the same. Tough time to be a Sonics fan.
