Ginobli gets the cake, Terry and Barbossa get the cupcakes, but at least Korver gets some of the frosty from the 6th man of the Year aware.

i think that's just about right, honestly i didn't expect him to be up there at all...he's ahead of Ben Gordon! People have noticed the impact he's had since the trade.

Honestly, what a joke that Manu is even considered a 6th man. He is more important to that team than anyone else.

Agreed, a pleasant surprise for me too! (I took part in the RealGM award poll, and I didn't even put him in my top 3 ;) ). Nice to see him get recognized.

I agree, Manu getting the 6th man award is a joke! NO "bench player" that gets starter minutes should be given the award. It should be for a player who comes off the bench for 20-30 minutes a game.

That is why is 6th man of the year, not bench player of the year.

Manu is not a 6th man. He is a premier player, 10 times better than Finley. He is a top 10 in the NBA, if not top 5. It is a joke. :banghead:

I disagree with the anti-Ginobili sentiment.

The 6th man award goes to the first player off the bench, not the sixth best player on the team. If the Spurs decide for whatever reason they want to start someone ahead of Ginobili, that makes him the sixth man.

The fact that he is an all-star calibre player doesn't magically make him a starter...you're taking the reason he won it as a reason to disqualify him?

Well then he will just win it every year because he really has no competition.
