Interesting in terms of statistical analysis (my complete apathy regarding Deron vs. Paul should be well known by now), but also a year old. Quite a bit has changed in the last year, which renders the conclusions obsolete (if they were worth anything in the first place )

This is a year old, I think the majority of people have seen it and yet it still doesn't explain why Paul cannot play "up to his potential" vs. Deron..

Wages is awfully bias..

Paul has been ON FIRE in the playoffs, so he has proven that question wrong so far. I don't think things will be so easy for him in SA though. And yes, this article is too out of date to be relevant.

Paul has been more impressive this year IMO. But like people have said, he plays the traditional superstar role while Deron is asked to give up a lot of his game to benefit guys like AK to get him back into the game plan.

The Jazz aren't built around Deron's game considering Deron is one of the newest players on this current team.

Paul has really played well so far in this series, but again, it's been two games at home, I am curious to see what happens over the rest of the post season.

Look, Chris Paul is a special, special player and I really like his game and his mentality. What he's doing in his third year in the league is incredible. I don't have any problem with people saying he's better than Deron. After watching him play in his first couple playoff games, I might even be willing to concede the point, although I'm still not sure about that since it's not that hard to dominate an aging point guard on a team that is generally mediocre defensively.
That being said, Deron is also a really special player. I don't know what this year's win score stats would say, but to look at stats like these and blindly conclude that they irrevocably mean that Paul is better and would make the Jazz better than Deron does is absurd and to do so last year was absurd. Deron plays his role on this team, which is extremely different from Paul's role on the Hornets, so well that there is not a single point guard in the league I'd rather have on the Jazz. Not right now, not in the future. He not only fits our system perfectly, but any gap between him and CP3 is somewhere between non-existent and negligible.

I would love to see a Hornets-Jazz match up for the west final.

I think Deron would go into that series with a huge chip on his shoulder and destroy CP3.
I think all the CP3 jock riding has got to the point of being ridiculous.

Anybody catch Vangundy on the mike and mike show this morning?

As far as I can tell, the only people who've said anything that hyperbolic about Chris Paul are Jazz fans trolling Chris Paul threads with sarcasm. If there are people who genuinely think Chris Paul should be MVP, that's because of the "V" in MVP, not because they think he's the best player in the NBA.

this debate is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), people can keep trying to prove paul is better than williams but i doubt you ll find any jazz fan that regrets picking williams over paul.

Chris Paul is not the best player in the NBA, but a strong case can be made that he is the best point guard in the NBA. Deron is an excellent point guard as well, certainly a top 3 point guard in the league (I think he and Nash is a toss-up, but I prefer Nash).

The claim was never that "EVERYONE thinks Paul is the best", only that the assertion had been made by more than one person. You asked for a link, you got one. Don't now claim that it doesn't count. Sheesh.

So just for the record, "people on the comparison board" = Smills and some ballboy who agreed with him, and no one else. And on that basis alone, "it's gotten a bit out of hand". I see.

Difference is that it was made out like the majority of the comparison board was of the belief that Paul is the best player in the NBA, but really only two [or a really small number] of people did.

If the statement had been, "2 people on the PC board said Paul was the best player in the NBA", then there would be no argument.

It's undeniable that Paul is the best PG in the league right now, but for the system that the Jazz run Deron is perfect.
