So, I had this thought earlier when I was reading an article about the Bucks. What are some moves -- or lack thereof -- that you were disappointed about at the time, but turned out (in hindsight) to be blessings in disguise?

Mine:

- The Mavericks sign Howard Eisley
- Raja Bell walks for Phoenix
- The Bucks outbid us for Mo Williams
- Donyell Marshall skips town
- Andre Miller chooses Denver
- The Magic draft JJ Reddick
- Jason Terry's and Corey Maggette's offer sheets are matched by Atlanta and LAC
- Olden Polynice goes on NBA TV and claims he "still runs the floor like a 25 year-old."

Okay, that last one doesn't have anything to do with the topic, but I just wanted to remind people that it happened.

The only ones I was dissapointed by was Mo Williams signing with th Bucks and the Clippers matching the offer to Corey Maggette. I'm still dissapointed by both of those actions, but all the other ones, I was happy when they happened.........

Well, Mo Williams = No Deron, I think. Plus, he's turned out to be a bit of a chucker.

Donyell got das boot for Harpring. There was no tear shed by the Jazz organization when he left.

Yeah, I guess the concept is that these are all from your particular point of view, not the fan base's or organization's in general necessarily. I wasn't quite sold on Harpring at the time over Donyell, though I feel like an idiot looking back on it now.

I was bummed when the Jazz traded Jeff Malone for Jeff Hornacek. Granted I was like 8 at the time but I was not really excited for that trade.

Jazz missing out on Earl Watson...

Small things like that.

Overall I usually see the merit in what the Jazz are doing as far as management goes. They only make moves when they need to, and when they do it almost always pays off.

I was disappointed we missed out on Thabo Sefolosha and Saer Sene. Ahhh, the appeal of distant lands cloud my simple little mind.

I actually think Sefolosha would be a great fit here still. He's an awesome defender and has great point forward skills.

Brewer is solid though.

A few more blessings in disguise...

1. Boozer's injury allowed the Jazz to move into the lottery and draft Deron.

2. Similar theme - Portland's infatuation with Sebastian Telfair (who I thought was going to be good and burn the Jazz regularly) led them to pass on drafting either Paul or Deron and in fact made a trade with us allowing us to do it.

3. Fisher's departure opening up room for Brewer and salary for Korver.

4. The trade where we re-acquired Ostertag originally really made me irate. I still think that we could have gotten O and a 1st rd pick for Snyder, Borchardt and Lopez. However, it did free up a little bit of $ and some roster spots.

5. I was in the Delta Center when most of the crowd viciously booed the draft selection of a skinny, unknown Russian that we put away for a couple of years. That worked out OK after all.

6. Anyone of those lamentable losses this year (NY, Miami, Minnesota, etc.) allow us to play Houston in rd 1 instead of SA (yikes!) or the Suns.

I'm sure that there are lots more out there...

Excellent add-ons. I actually felt the same about most of them...

The other one that comes to mind is passing on Tony Parker. His rookie year, I felt terribly about it. I realize now, though, that while he's a quality PG, he'd be garbage in our system. Tony Parker setting a down screen for a PF?

Boozer's injury, as mentioned above, is one of the greatest things to ever happen to this franchise. How would we have attempted to remedy our PG woes if we'd been forced to go in a different direction, do you think?

We probably would have drafted someone like Jarret Jack or Marcus Williams, and also signed some scrub veteran like Tyron Lue.

Matt Harpring's injury in 03-04. He was the best scorer on the Jazz, and when he went down AK took over and led the Jazz to a 42-40 record.

But then it led to a max conract which sucks now, maybe the one is 50-50.

Gettin Fisher's sorry ass out of Utah was definantly a blessing in disguise.
