Lakers Fan here.....

Post#1 » by John from Hemet » Mon May 5, 2008 5:47 pm

- I dont think this series is going to go the way of the nuggests even though we won the first game. Utah plays a lot stouter....their defense is better...and they are more physical.

- I thought they put out a good effort in game one.....but missed a lot of outside shots.

- Kobe did not have a very good game 1....he missed a lot of shots he otherwise would not have. He got to the free throw line or his numbers would not have been that great.

here is to a good series with no injuries.

Thanks, man. I agree with you on everything except for that part. IMO, Kobe had an amazing game. He got AK and Brewer in foul trouble. He hit 50% of his shots and got an amazing 38 points with only 16 shots. Aside from maybe 2 bad shots and 1 turnover, he had an amazing game. I don't think he'll do much better than what he did, but I also expect Pau and Odom to step up their games. I also expect Boozer to shoot better next game and the Jazz bench to show up. Game 2 has everything to bell one hell of a game.

yeah, I really think the Lakers will take the Jazz in no more than five games. Although Boozer and Okur kill us, I still think Laker defense has the Jazz hurrying shots. Lakers outscored the Jazz in 3 of the 4 quarters so far, no disrespect meant, but the Lakers are on a roll that only the Celtics have a chance to stop...

here's to hoping for a good series...

I think game 1 was your chance to steal. I found it amazing the Lakers won even though they got killed on boards and 2nd chance points. I believe the biggest difference was the bench. That's how the Lakers built that 18 pt lead was when the starters went to the bench.

I think the Jazz's best chance of winning (If they have a chance @ all, just being a homer ) if if they win the 2 games @ home and steal game 5. That would rattle the teams confidence. I think Kobe, Fisher, and Phil have this team believing in itself now. This is going to be a good series tho.

This is why I hate Laker fans, I dont care if some are intelligent, most think your the best thing since apple pie. You got an all star just handed to you, because you have some stupid former ass ties. Well its all set up just like it was with Malone and Payton and what happened? You lost. And thats what im just waiting for, is to have the stupid ass lakers fall. You beat the nuggets and you think your the top **** in the league? is this the same team that lost to the bobcats and grizzlies in LA? The hatred for the lakers is getting soo bad that I almost care more about the lakers losing then the jazz winning, I hate the Lakers. Always will.

Well, while I agree that overconfidence would be a bad idea (for the Lakers team more than their fans), I also think they have sound reason to feel good about their chances.

Personally, though, I think the Jazz, the Hornets, and the Spurs are all perfectly capable of beating them. We'll just have to see what happens.

It's not the Lakers are great, it's that the Jazz matchup poorly. If the Blazers were in the Playoffs against the Lakers, they would tear the Lakers a new one.

Just like right now, the Hornets are handing it to the Spurs. But D-Will and the Jazz would tear the Hornets apart. Lakers will win it all this year partially because of the great matchups.

It's all about the matchups, Lakers in 4-5 games max against the Jazz.

Next year, with Bynum, Pau, Odom and Kobe, THAT would be a GREAT team. :)

Well, since you're talking about next year, don't you worry. We have a "secret weapon" (that the Lakers know about) ready to unleash for you next year!! ;)

I have watched every game this year, and I actually came away from game 1 not feeling to bad.

I think Utah played a sub par game and still had a chance to win in the last 5 min. I think they know it, I think the Lakers know it.
Game 2 will be telling.
I still think back to last year and game seven in Houston. That would be a dream come true to do it again in LA.

I was wondering who Jazz fans would hate. The Lakers make sense, lots of people hate the Lakers, Bulls, also understandable, Rockets, dido. But what is this line about Kobe talking trash about the Jazz whenever he comes to town? Kobe rarely if ever talks trash, he's a pretty reserved player who lets his game do the talking for him.

The only thing I can think about was this season, when the Lakers were coming for their second game in Utah, and Kobe was talking about how disrespectful the Jazz fans were who booed Fisher for caring about his daughters health. I mean you guys knew he was moving to LA, why is it that hard to imagine him playing basketball again for the team that got him three rings?

Hey I am a Laker fan and I have respect for Jazz fans! No matter how it go's I love to watch good matches and the Jazz and Lakers always had good ones! And I did not hate D- Fish when he left and went to Utah. I understand you hate to lose a player like him too he's a great guy! What can I say " I Love The NBA !!!

Why are you so angry ?
Its a good series and the next game is in Utah .
Thats why winning your division or conf. is so important .
The Lakers held their H.C.A and now its up to the Jazz to do that as well .
Also Pau wasnt givin to us , and I really dont want to get into we gave an Exp Contract plus a young soon to be an AllStar P.G and 2 draft picks Junk cause all it will do is derail the entire thread .
But stop being so angry .

So much for doing it in L.A. huh ? All we did was hold serve now it's Jazz turn.

Jarvis Crittenton is a soon to be all star? Are you **** kidding me? He's going to be playing behind Conley and Lowry but somehow he will rise in the west none the less and be an all star? This is sig worthy, but Im not going to put it in mine. What a joke how big of homerism can you get? Ronny Turiaf is Dennis Rodman right?

I think Critt will be the starter their soon in Memphis. He's got the skills, he may be a year away still, but don't sleep on him. Marc is a strong candidate for MVP over in a respected league.

Thats fine he can be a starter for a bad team he wont but he can be, he could be a decent or maybe even solid starter. But he is not going to be an all star in the west anytime in the near future chances are never. Laker fans really stop trying to say you gave something of value up in this trade. Unless Marc is around his brother pau this is one of the worst trades. Just please admit it.

At this point, as far as basketball players go, yes, this trade would be considered lopsided. But u also need to consider that Memphis wasn't looking to get another all star player in return; they were looking for an expring contract, a young prospect and fillers. Which is exactly what they got. Kwame's contract is off the books, Javaris Crittenton could develop into a pretty good player (not gonna say all star, look at the compettion in the west) and Marc Gasol as a filler is a crapshoot. If he comes here and plays well, good for Memhis. If not, they're trying to sell their team anyway and it doesn't even matter. They cut one of the contracts they wanted to get rid of and the Lakers were simply the first (and only) team to really act on their expressed desire to deal Pau by the deadline. Ppl need to get over it.
