Me too. I really wanted the Jazz to draft Almond, and wasn't too high in CJ, but now I'm thinking exactly the opposite. CJ seems like more of a complete player and has really improved this year. It would be a shame if he left. I'd rather have the Jazz trading Almond and making room for CJ, than letting him go. Or if possible, just keep the two.

I really hope we hang on to CJ, but you cant blame the kid if his hometown team throws him a good chuck of change.

This is why I wont mind a package of almond and a vet for a another player. CJ needs to know that we want him to be the backup 3 and possibly the starting 3 in another 2 or so years afterall he will only be 23.

Jazz coaches and management all like CJ as a player and a person, he has done everything they have asked of him.

I really hope the Jazz find a way to keep him, it would be a shame for someone else to get the benefit of our project. I think he will be ready to play major minutes next year.

If the offer is anything at or less than 3mil per, I believe the Jazz will match it. Remember, he is still an RFA, since he only has 3 years of tenure. I expect him to be back next year, and I think he will begin to break out next season if he stays.

He is finally starting to get that "game-ready" look about him, and shed that deer-in-the-headlights expression he used to have every time he took the court.

He obviously has the talent, he has a natural gift for the game, and he is a good kid that works his tail off. That is a winning combo. As long as he doesn't get a prohibitive contract offer, he will be back.

Starting next year Harpring is going to be phased out of the team, imo, and that will open up minutes for CJ. And that is not even counting the possible departure of AK, which would blow the door off its hinges. He could be a starter getting 30+ mpg this time next year.

I dont think CJ is a RFA, I thought if he took the qualifying offer(like he did last year) than the following year he is a UFA. I'm basing this off the Stromile Swift thing a few years ago with Memphis.

As for keeping CJ, I'm all for that. But the long jam is still going to prevent him from getting minutes next year. Ideally the Jazz would stop playing Harpring or trade him, but I dont see that happening. I really liked what I saw from CJ this year. He is a much stronger player than he was, and his confidence has grown termendously.

No, the CBA states that a player is not eligible for UFA until after his 5th NBA season. The standard 1st round rookie contract is two years guaranteed, with the 3rd and 4th years as team options. If a player gets through those first 4 years, he is then eligible for RFA. Any offer that he receives will be subject to review by the team holding his rights, and matched if they so wish.

By taking the tender, the RFA then achieves his 5th year of tenure, and qualifies for UFA.

CJ, since he is a 2nd rounder, had only a two year contract, with no team options afterwards. He currently has 3 years of tenure. He will be a RFA after this season, and next season, too, if he only takes the tender.

CJ is good enough, and has worked hard enough to deserve some looks from other teams. If he leaves it is only a credit to how hard this franchise has worked on making him into a great player. If he stays, then I'll still be happy, because sooner or later he'll be getting Harpring's minutes.

My guess is both CJ and Almond are back next year. Both are good and young, CJ brings more of an all around game, Almond brings a great offensive game and a good long ball.

I'd keep em both knowing that Harp and AK don't have long left.

I'd like to see Almond actually play before I want to see him shipped out (unless maybe he's part of the pacakge for a very good interior defender).

Having great shooters can never hurt.

CJ would not be considered a project if he got significant playing time. He deserves it and the Jazz better make it happen, because this kid has upside. He does everything he can with limited minutes and rides the bench, while other particular players only put in effort when they get what they want first.

AK will be traded, and Harpring is getting older....we need CJ on this team.

He's a great player and really deserves better, but as long as Jerry is the HC of the Jazz he won't be gettin the minutes he deserves.
