Does a Ray Allen for AK47 trade have legs?
All the talk on the Cs board about trading Ray got me thinking. Could a trade with Utah make sense in the offseason or even down the road next season or next off season? I'm less concerned with specifics of what the trade would be and what add ons would be included and more interested in the general idea of the trade. AK is a great player and I think he would fit well in Boston because he'd have PP and KG to do the scoring and could play on a great defensive team with guys like KG, PP, Perk, Rondo, Tony Allen, Posey. I am also interested in hearing Jazz fans opinions on how AK would far on the celtics if a trade went down, and if Ray would fit well in the Jazz system.

Ray just adds to the Log jam at the 2. Unless we move Ronnie to the 3.
Deron
Ray Ray
Brew
Boozer
Okur
Pretty talented line up, but like that last post said... we dont need Ray, we need Defense!!!!! We've got enough current talent to win it all IMO, we just need to go out there and prove it.

Terrible trade for both teams, in my opinion. They're already a very good defensive team, and would give up scoring. For the Jazz, we're already a very good offensive team, and would give up defense to add a 2, where we're already oversaturated.

we have enough wing players. Brewer, CJ, Almond, Harpring, Korver, AK.
My summer trade prediction is with the Knicks. I think they will trade AK for an expiring contract and NY giving the lottery pick to satisfy the pick they owe us. We need the cap space to resign some players. We may have to eat Marbury's contract though.
NY gets:AK and filler
Utah gets:lottery pick and Marbury who they buyout.

You an 1d10t or what? We are not giving up a lottery pick. What you smoking if you think we are going to be getting a lottery pick in 2010 from the Knicks. They will be in the playoffs by then, that was a lock once they got rid of Isiah.DelaneyRudd wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Knicks in the playoffs in 2 years? How are they going to do that with their current roster--even if they now have D'Antoni. He still has to trot out the same old gobstopers they currently have on their roster. And here is their tradebait for this summer:
Stephon Marbury 1 year $21 mill
Zach Randolph 3 years $48 mill
Eddy Curry 3 years $31.5 mill (09 and 10 are player option)
Quentin Richardson 2 years $18 mill (second year is player option)
Jamal Crawford 3 years $28 mill (2nd year player option)
Malik Rose 1 year $7.6 mill
Jerome James 2 years $12.8 mill (2nd year player option)
Jared Jefferies 3 years $19.5 mill (3rd year player option)
D'Antoni is a good coach but come on....

That is the problem Walsh was brought in to fix. In the Eaast it won't take much to make the playoffs.

There is virtually no reliable way to assess the value of the Knicks' pick at this point.
Going into the summer of 2007, the Celtics had the #5 pick overall (and were arguably a worse team than the Knicks are now). Getting their 2008 pick back then would have looked pretty sweet.
Then Boston added two superstars in a matter of WEEKS, and now their 2008 pick will be last in the round.
The Knicks have plenty of time to get better, or worse. Their 2010 pick could end up anywhere, and there's not a whole lot of point speculating about it this far ahead of the game.

Call me crazy if you wish, but KG for Booz, Brewer would be a good deal for the Celtics. Getting a bit worse, but extending the window from 2 to 10
