Fire Sloan Today

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Sat May 17, 2008 5:46 am

Sloan good guy, but simply not innovative. Why was Harpring playing Kobe late in 4th qter when u have AK-47 on your bench? He doesnt use Ak-47's defensive abilities at PF at all even for a few minutes per game. The zone used in 1st half was idiotic!!! CJ miles minutes in 1st half made tv announcers wonder what Sloan was doing. Korver takes a couple bad shots he is banned to the bench.

Sloan was out coached in the entire series simple as that. A new coach is needed today...maybe van gundy, Hornacek, or even Tyrone Corbin someone young and innovative.

Jazz never win a championship without firing Sloan. If Sloan was coaching the Lakers and Jackson was coaching the Jazz, the Jazz win this series. I know it and Phil Jackson knows it.

It wasn't sloan who disappeared during this series. The blame goes right on Boozers shoulders.

Fire Toledo today! j/k

The entire team didn't get it done on the defensive end. Sloan is one of the last reasons the team didn't advance.

PS: I hear Isiah Thomas is available.

The Jazz offense doesnt cut it against a team with any length. I agree Sloan is not at all inovative.

Not to mention the bonehead move of putting Harp on Kobe was the deathnail on the first rally in the 4th. If he hadnt done that, we would have won.

i disagree...this wasn't sloans fault. I mean you're right, his biggest downfall is that he's scared to shake things up.

what we need is a hard nosed coach who will keep the system sharp but will try different things, and Phil Johnson is the guy. He's the one who encouraged Sloan to let Deron go one on one for that slam in the rockets serires, and he's the one always motivating the players on the bench.

it will be another year though.

If we fired sloan we would be in big trouble. Who would we hire in his place?
If he has lasted this long as jazz coach I say we let him coach until he physically can't do it no more. Not many sure things in life but Jerry Sloan roaming the sidelines as Utah Jazz coach is one of them

Sloan just needs 1 or 2 more defensive minded players on his roster

Yes, it was Sloans falut...the best option at the time guarding Kobe was sitting on the bench. It took 2 quick 3's to put the lead back to 15 for him to wake up and put AK back in.

Word is Phil Johnson will interview in Phoenix and Corbin was mentioned as a possibility in Chicago. If Phil left, I'm not sure if Sloan would stay. They have been together as head coach & first assistant for 20 years.

This isn't on sloan, he coached us back into the game in the final 2 minutes. Yes, I think his time is up, but don't blame tonights loss on Sloan. The Jazz fought hard, it's just hard to beat the best in the west when your supposed "all-star" takes his vacation during the playoffs.

Great season Jazz, we'll be back next year.

You think he was telling our guys to jack 3's?? Youre insane! Thats what got us back in the game, and you can bet your life Sloan wasnt telling them to do it!

The Jazz were eliminated for no other reason than the Lakers' superior playing personnel.

We were defensively average or worse for most of this season, and that is not the basis for a championship team. That is purely an issue of talent. The Lakers would get nowhere near the free-throws and layups they did against us versus a defensively above average team.

Compare their offensive numbers for the remainder of the playoffs against those in this series, especially if they face the Spurs, and it will become clear, if it's inexplicably not already.

if johnson wants to coach, the jazz will promise him the position if he just sticks with it for a year or two. if not, he won't take the job in phoenix in the first place. my guess is he stays.

No way in hell this game was Sloan's fault.

down 6 with less than 24 seconds to go in a playoff ELIMINATION game? of course we're going to be shooting 3's. if you think anything different, YOUR INSANE!

We started jacking 3's far before then, or were you not watching? If we hadnt, we would have lost by double digits. And Sloan had NOTHING to do with that. If youre giving credit to Sloan for coaching the last 24 seconds, you need to stop, because we didnt finish the comeback from that point on.

sloan is a great coach...do you guys have any idea what kaos the laker org. was in a year ago? my point is that your team is very very good, your coach is great, and i believe as soon as deron finds his malone, well lets just say i am not looking forward to it.

we all felt that way about phil last year as well...

I can't think of very many pro sports teams where the face of the franchise is the coach. Utah is one of the few. Jerry Sloan is an excellent coach. He is respected in every corner of the NBA. He's a hall of famer. Most importantly, he gives the Jazz a very distinct identity. If you don't know what that is worth you will when he's gone.

Fire Sloan Now? What an embarassing thread.

I'm a well known Sloan detractor, but this loss wasn't on him. In fact I think he did a pretty great job this year with one exception: Matt Harpring. Sloan's mancrush on him killed any chance of developing CJ Miles, and Harp's stone hands and slow footed defense on Kobe cost us the series.
