I think he could be a 16-10 guy. Probably give you 1.5 blocks.

I just don't know if you're gonna get a Boozeresque (regular season) FG%.

If he was starting his foul trouble wouldn't be as extreme because the refs usually let them play a little more in the beginning of the game.

I would love to have him start, he's too good not too.

Yes, he's definitely ready but I like him better coming off the bench 'cuz he gives the jazz energy right away after Boozer leaves the game to rest.

He is not the best size for a starter. His hustle and skill set willalways be valuable to any team as a reserve.

I bet he is.

Is Boozer ready to be traded?

Absolutely he could. He's easily a 10 rebound guy, and if he had 14 shots a game no reason to think 16+ is out of the question.

Millsap's ready. I don't like him coming off the bench when Boozer go to rest after bury his team in a huge hole in big games. :banghead:

There is some work to be done to make him a true starter. I think he would fill the void fine, doing not much spectacular, but being solid.

He needs to work on his inside game and certainly a jumpshot from inside 18 ft. This aspect of his game is probably something that will never be anything more than average.

I am ecstatic when it comes to how this kid plays defense though. He does get a bit too aggressive at times, but that is better than being weak. He will learn to control his excitement and play solid defense while keeping from fouling. He will be a pretty good shut down defender in due time.

Most of all, I love his heart. He is very motivated, and I think he saw that Boozer was playing poorly and saw his opportunity. I think he proved himself in the playoffs to be GREAT off the bench, and has potential to be our starter. Plus, he will be pretty cheap for some years to come. He is great all around.

Yes, ready but not as good as Boozer. Milsap would have the same problems as Boozer because of his lack of size. Great replacement for Boozer because the kid knows how to rebound and block (bit better blocker than booze). Keeper, but never a starter while Booze is around and Booze needs others to keep his game on like Milsap would.

Do you know how many players actually average 16/10 or better? Only 8 players did that last season and their names are Yao, Duncan, Dwight, Kaman, Boozer, Jamison and Zach Randolph. Take away Zach's because he sucks so bad and you basically only have 7 players in the league who averages 16/10 or better.

Does Millsap belong in the group with players like Yao, Duncan, and Dwight?

Actually, Sap blocks about 10 times better than Boozer, has the potential to rebound just as well, and isn't so intimidated from his lack of height.

Also, no way is he a 16/10 guy YET. I think he absolutely has that potential, especially with Deron feeding him. Don't forget that Okur really turned into an awesome rebounder toward the end of the season as well. Boozer had a few games in which he had very few rebounds because Okur got them all.

Sap would be the greatest asset because of his defense, not his offense. We don't need offense as much right now, we have it in truckloads.

I think Sap needs another year to develop an outside shot. He has shown improvement on hitting that shot from the high post. If he could prove to be a consistent threat from there, then he might just be a starter.

I do not think Millsap has the potential to be a starter on a championship team.
I love his effort as much as anybody but his lack of size is just too much. he has to spend a lot of energy to overcome this lack of size , so i can't see him giving us 34-35 minutes per game of great basketball for the next 5-6 years (or more).

Foul trouble is also an issue , even though this is something that can be corrected (ask Tyson Chandler who couldn't stay on the floor in chicago).

Anyway i think his size is really too much a flaw. We have to realize his effectiveness relies a lot on his energy level and his athleticism . When he will get past his prime he will decline very quickly.
Barkley is an example , Malik Rose too.
This is what scares me with Millsap , i'm afraid that 5 years from now he will have already declined because without his athleticism and energy he won't be as good.

Nevertheless , if Utah want to start Millsap , they need to put a big body next to him. I'm thinking BIG FESS.
Hammerdunk you said that Okur turned into a great rebounder, but Pau Gasol disagrees. I think a guy in the mold of Fesenko (Kaman ?) would be great next to Millsap.
Millsap has the mobility , the center must have the size .

Even though Memo did get owned on those 2 offensive rebounds, I wouldn't hold that against him. He played a long, hard game in a place where he wasn't getting any benefit of calls, and was very tired. What we need is a good big that can give him some good bench minutes to play a whole game like that, and Fess is probably the guy, but he should not be our starting C any time soon. Memo is good, I love the potential the 3 shot gives the rest of his game. We saw a bit of that this season, and it will only get better.

And he will get tougher so those missed rebounds in game 5 won't happen anymore.

+1 excellent point. Thank you for enlightening some of the people here. Milsap is incredibly raw offensively, he could have the occasional 20pt game, but I doubt he could put up 16pts consistently or 12pts for that matter. He doesn't have a jumper, or the size or speed to score that much. Immediately opposing defenders would just sag off of him and clog the middle. Most importantly to this conversation is:

Would we be a better team with milsap starting? NOPE.

I don't get why people talks about potential that much when speaking about Boozer and Okur. Those two guys have played 4 seasons as starters here, three with Deron , they are older than 26 years old : they won't get much better than now.

Everybody was saying that they could only improve defensively from last year : THEY DIDN'T.
Okur won't get tougher. He is what he is. You don't get toughness at the age of 28 .

Okur and Boozer are not prospect , they are finished products. What you see now , is what you'll get.

Regarding Millsap , another example of an undersized PF that hasn't aged to well : Ben Wallace. Dude is complete garbage now. He was a great defender three or four years ago , but take away some of his athleticism and he just looks like an undersized scrub now. 38 years old PJ Brown is a better defender than him right now. In the end you can't just teach size.
I like Millsap , but he doesn't have the potential to be a starter , and more importantly we can actually expect him to decline three or four years from now when his athleticism will start to go away.
