Will Boozer opt out after next season?
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but he has a player option after next season. Assuming we haven't traded him by then, will he opt out? He'd leave about 12 mil on the table but I think he and his family hate SLC and his kids health situation doesn't help(IMO). I say if he had a good year and his stock was high, he'd opt out.
I think he is way more tradeable than AK. Maybe we go that route and trade Boozer and free up money or get more athletic. Just a thought.

I completely disagree with you. I don't think he hates SLC at all, nor do I think he wants to leave. Would he leave? probably for richer and greener pastures if they are available, but I think it all depends on how well he plays next year, and what the Jazz do as a team. As long as we have Williams, and build around him though, I think we've got a good shot to go far.

Miami would be the most obvious problem. The Boozers live there in the offseason and Miami appears to want him, based on the speculative article yesterday here on RealGM, etc. If they get Beasley in the draft, that would make it a moot point probably.
If there are teams that could offer Booz a max deal after next year, based on cap situtations, it could be a problem, since he will be at $12M or so with the Jazz, and probably $17M with another team for that year. If the Jazz don't intend on signing him to a long-term max deal, than there is certainly a good chance that he opts out or tries to engineer a trade to a team that will.
The Jazz will have a lot of decisions to make, since DWill will be essentially a max guy them, AK will still have two max years left I believe, and Memo is in a similar situation, being able to opt out. I would hope that the Jazz and Memo could get to a reasonable extension (3-4 years) that would keep him here at similar money to what he is making now.
The only guys leaving off contract in the next couple years are Harpring (two more years) at $4.5M, Hart ($2.5M) and Collins $2M. So that is $9M coming off, but, in addition to DWill, Millsap and Brewer will need to be resigned, probably at MLE money or so. There is not enough money to go around to all of those guys, so one of the big 4 probably won't be here long-term, in order to keep 3 other middle-types that are necessary for a team (e.g., Millsap, Korver, Brewer). We will see who that is.

I'm really starting to think we should move him while his value is high. Next year will be finals or bust. If he comes back, has an average year and we lose in the second round again, he could opt out and we would get nothng for him. I could def see Miami offering him a max deal.
Let's get rid of him now for some size and or athleticism. We have options if we trade him with AK, Memo, or Millsap all having the ability to be our starting power forward.
My only concern is upsetting Deron, but he is a pro and will adjust to whatever players are around him.

Who knows what will happen. If he is seriously considered an option for Miami, why not offer him in a trade this year for Marion, even a re-signed Marion? This allows Andrei to slide to the 4 Marion to the 3 and memo at the 5. MIlsap and Maybe Big Fess can back up or find another a la Diop. either way that gives the Jazz some sick Defense from AK and Marion. I don't think this is the best scenario, but could work and wouldn't hurt TOO bad. On another note, I know Philly has stated that getting a good 4 is priority, would the Jazz offer Booze for say a dalembert? I think this wouldn't suck at all and would allow Memo to play the 4 and spot 5 minutes
