Hey Utah-Jazz-type-folk...
Have a question for you, and who better to ask on this, but do you think that the Utah Jazz would be better served by a new coach?
Changing Jazz riffs...
A thought... and I would appreciate input, if you want.

As a Jazz fan who has never stepped foot in Utah, I can tell you that Sloan and his culture and system are the only reason I stuck with the Jazz immediately after Stockton retired. So, no, it's not time for a new Coach. I'm with Jerry until he hangs it up of his own accord.

Fair enough on your fandom JSLO... but is that an argument for retention of a coach? "Near enough is good enough"? Not stating that the culture/system needs an overhaul, just that a new perspective... a shift in emphasis could sustain Utah at the top, or near the top - without huge changes in playing personnel.

This has been a bone of contention for a long time here...there are pro- and anti-Sloan camps that are pretty well entrenched. The one thing that both sides DO agree on is that our opinion doesn't change much either way; Sloan will be here until

1) he retires, or
2) the Earth crashes into the sun. Whichever comes first. Or possibly second

^Agreed. It doesn't matter what the "best" option is. That's not the way the Jazz organization always works. Sloan is here to stay until he does something either seriously "ethically wrong", dies, or quits

Sloan is not the best option at coach, unfortunately, for the current situation, he is the ONLY option.

I think the most important thing is to not lose the coach of the future( Ty Corbin). Because in all honesty why would Phil takeover after Jerry left? Phil is older too.

Aside from my sentimentality and affection for Sloan, I do genuinely think he's the best coach available for this team. He's not running on empty; he's still an elite instructor in this league.

I do agree with Sheik, though, that Corbin is in the future. If we can retain him and get him to run Sloan's system once Jerry retires, I'll be ecstatic.

Well, I don't have problems with Sloan, but he is doing the same for years, and it's not effective. I love his way to watch the game (fight, hard-nosed players) but the guy have to change some things because we are not going to be champs playing with that system (or with these players)

Couldn't disagree more, FJS. This system is perfect for our team; we're just missing a competent interior defender on the defensive end.

I said something is wrong... (system or players) and you said we're missing a competenet interior defender... so you agree, the players are wrong.
But an excellent coach make adjustement if he knows he don't have the piece to make his system go perfect.

I think Sloan's system is still efficiant,however i still question his ability to ajust to things in key situations. However we can talk about it as much as we want he will be here next year!

I don't think there's any adjustment he COULD make, though. If you don't have an interior defender, then you don't have an interior defender.
