Probably highly unlikely, but...
I think that it is at least worth some discussion. I was just reading the Jazzfanz.com boards and they got me thinking. You know how everyone thinks that Carlos Boozer might opt out of his contract next season and go to Miami where his family lives? Well, why not just send him there through a draft night trade? It is kind of ludicrous, but bear with me: Now that the Miami Heat know that they are getting the #2 pick in the draft and that it might be Michael Beasley, would the Jazz consider trading Carlos Boozer to the Heat for the #2 pick and Beasley? Personally, I don't think that there would be much of a drop of between the two. Also, the Jazz would suddenly become a very athletic team. You would at least think that the Heat would consider it. Boozer would be absolutely dynamic next to a scoring machine like Dwayne Wade and an athletic, defensive machine like Shawn Marion. I think that a two-time all-star is worth a #2 overall pick, don't you? If not, we could and probably would include the 23rd pick in the deal.

If Blount were included, he would be our back up center. The Jazz could then move to a very athletic, almost small-ball type line up it they wanted to. How about this two deep?
Starters:
PG: Deron Williams
SG: Ronnie Brewer
SF: Andrei Kirilenko
PF: Paul Millsap
C: Michael Beasley
Primary Reserves:
PG: Ronnie Price
SG: Kyle Korver
SF: Matt Harpring
PF: Mehmet Okur
C: Mark Blount
That is a scary team that presents all kind of match up problems.

We would probably bring Beasley off the bench as a backup SF and PF and have Sap starting at PF.
If Beasley is really not much of a drop from Boozer, why would the Heat trade him? Also, I'm thinking the Bulls might go for Beasley and trade one of their big men. It makes more sense to me trading Gooden or Thomas than trading Hinrich.

The Jazz line up would essentially look like this...
Deron/Price/Hart
Brewer/Miles/Almond
AK/Harpring/Korver
Millsap/Beasley
Okur/Blount/Fesenko/Collins
That's 15 players under contract.
Personally I'd throw in pretty much any other non starter with the exception of Fes and Millsap to make the deal work, which would also cut the roster to 14. And I'd throw in any combination of picks as well most likely.
I'd do it though, but I doubt Miami has much interest, but who knows?

This seemed really interesting to me so I just posted it on the general trade board.

Tough to think that Miami would move the #2 pick, but if they are that high on Boozer then maybe.
Boozer, Harpring #23

Banks has a **** contract, but i'm sure a buy out could be a possiblity.

That is the best trade scenario anyone has come up with on this board. Likely won't happen, but I would definitely take it. Boozer would be more happy in Miami, probably would play better there as well. Beasley would be awesome to have here. It would put us back a few development years, but in 3 or 4 years, we would be a tough team to beat.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

have to disagree with you there. We can be a productive team without Boozer, and we've shown that this entire postseason. Beasley is a great all around player, and has enough talent to contribute right away.. obviously not like Boozer but he's a great scorer and a pretty good defender as well.
Plus he's got big game skills like Deron

This game reminds me alot of Derons big night against Arizona in the Final 4.

Riley open to trading #2
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/52630/20080521/riley_thinking_about_trading_no_2_pick/
Appears Riley is open to moving the pick - combine that with the rumor of Miami's interest in Boozer and this one may have legs.[/quote]

I really like this idea and I don't think it's that unrealistic. Obviously, no rookie's a sure thing, but I can't see Beasley ending up being worse than Boozer, and, frankly, I don't think we would see too much of a drop off in the short term, especially since it would open up more minutes for Millsap and maybe even some minutes at the four for AK. I think that, even playing for Sloan, Beasley could make a very solid contribution right away because he's such a talented and versatile scorer and a good rebounder. Playing with a great point guard who's only going to get better would certainly help.
In the long run, this trade could really help us, especially since Boozer might just leave for Miami anyway. Beasley is eight years younger than Boozer and he has a much higher ceiling. He's longer, he's much more athletic, he's got more range and he has a lot more defensive potential. I think he's going to be a force and the thought of him and Deron playing together for the next ten or fifteen years is frightening. This trade would set us up for a very long and quite possibly fruitful reign as a serious contender, even if it might hurt us slightly in the short term.

I'm not exactly in Boozer's fan club right now, but that would be really stupid to trade him for an unproven rookie. It would be similar to the Clippers/Bulls trade a few years ago when the Bulls traded Brand for Chandler.
Even before Chandler played a game it was a stupid trade, because if he would have ended up being as good as Brand he would have exeeded expectations. Same with any rookie coming in, we would be lucky if he even ended up being as good as a Boozer, so since we already have Boozer, why in the hell would we trade him for an unknown?

Obvously there would be a risk involved in making this trade, or any trade involving a proven veteran and an unproven rookie, but comparing Beasley to Chandler is sort of ridiculous. Chandler came out of high school and all he really had going for him was size, athleticism and raw ability. Beasley, on the other hand, has a pretty refined and versatile offensive game already and dominated college basketball as a freshman, much like Melo and Durant did. Both of those guys averaged over 20 points a game as rookies and all indications are that Beasley can do the same and he's a much better rebounder.
As for the long term, while there's no guarantee that he'll be as good or better than Boozer, his upside is much higher. He's much more athletic and explosive, he's longer, he's more versatile, he could be a better defender, etc.
We certainly shouldn't trade Boozer without a second thought, but, if we do have a chance of trading for someone like Beasley who could contribute significantly right away and has ridiculous potential, it's something we'd have to seriously consider, especially given that Boozer might leave in a year or two anyway, leaving us with nothing in return.
