Deron Actually LIKES SLC!?!?

The Tribune's Jazz blog mentioned today that Deron has been in SLC for atleast most of the summer since the season ended. I also heard him on DJ and PK last week and he mentioned there that he pretty much lives here year round now.

Is this possible? A superstar athlete actually ENJOYS (?!?!?!) living in SLC. I always thought that a major reason why SLC got a bad rap from players was that they were only here from Oct - May/June and didnt really see great weather. For those of you who live in SLC know it is hot as balls right now and compares favorably to Phoenix which is classically an attractive destination for athletes.

Trust me, weather has little to do with Superstars not wanting to live in SLC. Boston, detroit, chicago, all get ass cold during the winter. My guess would be superstars don't want to live in SLC because of the culture and the people. That being said its definitely a good sign DW likes SLC.

This isn't exactly news, except for people who are paranoid and insecure about commonly held national sentiment regarding Utah's cultural (particularly in regard to religion) background.

Deron has said point-blank many times that he loves it here, that he likes the city, the people, the area etc etc. Anyone who has the slightest amount of concern over him leaving here for any peripheral reason is simply torturing themselves needlessly. The guy is ours. Quit living in fear.

SLC isn't Provo and Utah isn't the Utah of the 80's. There is no reason a rich popular person shouldn't like it here.

Who cares? I care if Deron comes to play...not whether he love SLC or not Whether he likes it here or not is pointless because that wont lure FA here, its what we do on the court that will.

On the article...He just built a house, played in that golf pro-am at thanksgiving point and is due in Vegas at the end of the month. I can understand why he has been here working out and getting ready for the OLY. Staying here probably has more to do with his wifes preference then his since he wont be here for the next 2 months.

Maybe Deron can convince Derek Harper and Ronny Siekely to come play for us. In all seriousness, it's good to know that our best player will at least be around for a while. He is by far the most clutch player we've had on our team since Stockton.

Deron said on 1280 today that he got the news about the Olympics while he was playing golf wih Jonny Miller. He said he is about a 15 handicap. Name dropper....LOL

The humidity in Utah- or lack thereof- makes the heat alot nicer than virtually anywhere east of the Rockies this time of year.
