Game 1 was awful. The refs wouldnt let anyone play. Corbin wouldnt let anyone play even though you cant foul out in summer league. Mo Almond was the only one who looked half way decent.

BUT! Deron Williams did the broadcast for the 1st half of the game and had a brilliant line. Hot Rod was mentioning that as the #1 pick his salary was 10,000 dollars and Deron said that was a lot of money back then. Hot Rod said "You werent there and it wasnt." Deron said "That wasnt a lot during the Great Depression?"

Man though . . . I really hope that tomorrow goes better.

I turned it off after the first half, the game was horrible, the broadcasting was awful. I like Deron but he has no personality.

Unnnggghh.. I wasn't really that impressed with Almond personally. Dude needs to make better decisions with the ball/learn what a pass is, maybe play some D. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Fesenko is AWFUL. He doesn't want to play, didn't give an ounce of effort. He needs to go ASAP.

Well, let's wait a little longer than Game 1 of the RMR before we crucify Fesenko. That said, I didn't see the game.

You didn't see the game, HE WAS AWFUL. You could tell he didn't want to be there. Wasn't hustling, didn't care when he gave up the ball.

Sounds like a Boozer playoff game... during which I was ranting and raving, so I can understand the feeling.

Hopefully this was just one game his head was out of, and he comes back better in Game 2. His fire was clear during last year's RMR. But if perceived heat from management is enough to effect his performance for the entire summer league run, then yeah, he may not be worth much.

Let's not write his epitaph yet, though.

I think i will watch maybe one more summer game and if its one quarter like what yesterday was then i'm done. That was just horrible. Could anyone shoot at all for the jazz? Fesenko was horrible I wont say they he doesen't want to be there but realy other then being a 7 footer in the paint he realy didn't do much else watching him get striped of the ball was pathetic. Who was that fat load they brought in? That guy shouldn't be on a basketball court he might have a heart attack. They scored twenty points in the second half. enough said.

A few things to note for people watching the RMR.

1. Corbin didn't let anyone go out there and just play, he made a lot of quick substitutions.

2. The Spurs have played in another Summer League already, so they already have 5 or so games under their belt playing together.

3. It was the Jazz' first game, there are usually kinks.

4. This is probably the worst RMR team the Jazz have had in 5 or 6 years.

Fesenko really really looked terrible. He had some nice blocked shots, but if he's not doing that he was completely lost. He was repeatedly getting beat on the defensive end by players who shouldn't be beating him. He wasn't grabbing rebounds, and even his rotations were pretty bad. He's a good passer, but seems to have 0 offensive ability otherwise.

Mo Almond looked a little uptight, he was trying to do way too much, and I don't know if he is just a terrible passer or just doesn't like to pass but that definitely isn't a strong point to his game. There were quite a few times when it seemed like instead of taking the trouble to pass the ball he simply threw it up at the hoop, and even then he didn't shoot all that well. He's a far better low post scorer then he appears to be as a long distance shooter. He seemed very good however at drawing fouls and finishing after contact. He had quite a few strong baskets with a foul which is a good sign.

Koufos couldn't stay on the floor, my guess is Layden makes them a little bit more free to play this game tonight then Corbin did. But the good thing is Koufos is out there trying, he wasn't lost by any means, he just got some tacky fouls to begin the game and it hurt him.

Other notable players; Brazleton looked pretty comfortable running the point, as did Kruger who did some very nice things, however I don't think either of them are as good as Price which means they probably shouldn't be in the NBA.

Hiram Fuller is back again and I could really see him at least sticking through pre season with the Jazz. He is 6'9, plays a lot bigger then he is, is a good shot blocker, and works hard. Seems like a Jerry Sloan type player. He doesn't get down on himself, plays a good team game and hustles. He's 27 right now, so he won't be getting a ton better, but he may be a valuable back up Big for a few spot minutes if someone gets hurt or something.

Other then that everyone was pretty much your normal crappy RMR player.

I expect Fes to have a good game to re-enthuse us on his potential, and I think Mo will settle down. Koufos should also be solid, I don't expect him to dominate, but he should be a solid player.

I think you guys are being a little hard on Fes. Sure, he sucked it up out there but I don't think it was a lack of effort. We don't have any quality PG in the RMR... it's going to be ugly.

From what I saw of Koufos... I like.

Batron - You didn't like what Brittan Johnson did?

ok, don't rag on me too much for this, but you can probably guess from my username who I was hoping would have a decent game....

so how did Roger Powell look? the boxscore link doesn't work so I have no clue

(btw, I was pulling for the Jazz to win, just hoping Powell would play well - and he is a former Jazzman after all!)

He was typical Britton Johnson, he is better then anyone else on the floor, and he still didn't dominate. He's been playing professionally all over the world for the past 7 years and he's still isn't the best player in the floor when he's playing.

There is no reason he should have had a Harpring type career, he's athletic, 6'10, can shoot and drive and is a tough player, and still can't stick. Underachiever to the max.

I wouldn't read to much into the first game. The way the refs called the game was really bad for evaluating players, too many ticky calls. Both Fes and Kosta got into foul trouble early and that just seemed to really get them off their game. I wish Corbin would have coached the game differently. I mean, in summer league the players get like 8-10 fouls per game so just let them play instead of pulling them out. In the second quarter Kosta came in and picked up his 3rd foul and Corbin took him out immediately; he had only been in there for a minute or so. Almond was good but he did seem like he was trying too hard to prove something. He just needs to let the game come to him. We all know you can score, why don't show people (i.e Sloan) you can do other things like pass the ball especially when you have a 2 on 1 fast break, pass the ball to the open guy!

I forgot to mention Brazelton. I really liked the way he played. I would love to see him get some minutes with the A team.

The Jazz seriously had like 8 FG's all game long. Almost all of their pts came from the FT line.

Johnsen looked pretty good. He had one really nice spin move and dunk.

Korolev shot the ball really well during warmups and had a good hangle and I was excited to see him play but he ended up not doing anything on the court. He did push the ball on the break after some rebounds which was impressive for a guy his size.

Oh and also I agreed with what Bat said Corbin. Guys have 10 fouls to use but he still took out Koufus all the time which is a pain because everyone was there to see him.

Also about Mo passing. Deron was funny on the telecast talking about how Mo has tunnel vision. All he sees is the hoop.

Is Fes ever going to grow up for NBA play? The more I see him the more I'm doubting it.
He's just too immature for a man's game...It's a shame tho cause he uses his length really well at times

I'm a bit disappointed in Morris Almond. He's shot the ball decently and he's getting to the line a lot but his overall game hasn't gotten any better. He lacks a NBA ready polish, he's just too one-dimensional. He tries to pass the ball off from time to time but isn't successful at it. But he deserves his shot in the NBA..You don't get more NBA-ready by playing in the D-League all season. If CJ is gone than Almond will get his shot to finally prove himself in the NBA.

Koufos had a much better mindset this time around, he was attacking getting to the line and he is a really good free throw shooter. Still haven't seen his jump shooting skill but maybe he gets it going in next couple of games

But this team has disappointed. Last night was horrible and tonight we were right there than stunk it up all third quarter long. We had a decent rally but Atlanta put us away easily.
