My predictions

1- Deron Williams
2- Carlos Boozer (Jazz are too conservative to trade him)
3- Andrei Kirilenko (Jazz are too conservative to trade him)
4- Mehmet Okur
5- Ronnie Brewer
6- Matt Harpring (I see no reason the Jazz trade him)
7- Paul Millsap (I don't see the Jazz trading him)
8- Kyle Korver (I don't see the Jazz trading him)
9- Ronnie Price (I don't see the Jazz moving him)
10- Jarron Collins (last year of his contract)
11- Morris Almond (under contract)
12- Kyrylo Fesenko (under contract)
13- Veteran free agent PG - Brevin Knight perhaps?
14- Veteran big man. Someone that can waive a towel and bring a nice locker room presence. Optimistically a Diop or Kwame, but, I doubt that the Jazz throw more than vet min at this, so more like a Dale Davis or PJ Brown.
15 - 2nd round pick or open slot.

CJ Miles (free agency)
Jason Hart (buyout)
1st round pick (playing overseas or pick traded) (edit 5-25: Now that I think about it, this will probably go to Philly to satisfy the Korver debt)

I predicted CJ Miles gone to free agency. That's probably going to happen Friday.
I predicted Brevin Knight coming in.
I predicted Jason Hart going out.
Now we sign a veteran Big and I'm getting scary close to nailing this.

Why did you think the 2nd rounder would make it over a 1st rounder?

Koufos is better than Kwame anyways.

I didn't think they'd draft anyone they really liked at that position, so I figured they'd try to use the 1st rounder otherwise. If they let the guy go overseas, it wouldn't count on their cap and they wouldn't have to pay him. Similar to what we did when we drafted AK.

I was later informed that we couldn't move the pick to Philly, so that wasn't even possible. Well, not likely anyway.

I guess either I was wrong, and the Jazz intended to keep the pick and the player, OR they just lucked into a guy in Koufos that they didn't think would be there at their pick. I can't honestly say which is more likely, they may have been really happy with their draft position and chances for a good player. I like to think that they just got lucky landing Koufos where they were selecting.

Even though they have Koufos on the team now, and that kinda fills that 3rd backup center spot allready, I still won't be surprised to see them bring in some 35-38 year old big man to waive a towel and be able to contribute 5-8 solid minutes if needed.

Just look at the Knight trade to back that up. They were interested in bringing in a veteran PG in Knight even though I think Ronnie Price did a great job backing up Deron. I think they might be looking for a veteran big man who's a good locker room presence. I would love to see a PJ Brown in here, but, I think he's playing for Boston.

Maybe Felton Spencer. (joking)

what's up with the boards mancrush on Kwame Brown, i never understood that

I like Kwame. He's big, he's athletic, he's a good man post defender. What's not to like? It all comes down to price and expectations on him to me.

What's not to like? The fact that he's dumb as bricks, my friend. History has shown that he can't handle constructive criticism either, so Sloan would eat him up. I can understand why you and several others are interested in him -- he's an athletic big man and a decent defender, something we've discussed needing -- but in my opinion, it just plain wouldn't work.

I think it's too early to write him off. You have to put him in context some. He was a #1 pick right out of high school. He obviously thought he was the next big thing. Turns out, he wasn't. That's got to be hard on a kid. A pretty young kid. But, if he can get over that, and get his mind focused not on being a star, but on making a living, I think he can surely contribute to a team.

Is he worth the MLE? probably not. Will some team give it to him? Probably.

Would I take him for a Jason Hart type salary, you bet you ass I would.

I could care less about your prediction... it's not like it was some mystery. I always thought CJ would get an offer, just not this high; still i have hope we match.


as for Kwame...I would welcome him to Utah. Sloan may be hard on him, but he's got everything we need in a big man. Rebounds, defends and clogs the lane. I'm sold.

RMR has shown me the neither Fes or Koufos are ready to make the type of impact that we need.

That's a fair point about the psychology of his behavioral issues, 71. But the fact remains that this may be the most circuitous system in basketball, and he has the least circuits in his brain of anyone in basketball.

Nice.....but nothing exactly visionary. CJ is still a 50/50 deal, it could go either way. No one in their right mind would have thought that we could get a better player for less money like we just did with Hart, and you did say that Hart would be bought out, not traded, to be fair.
