The greatest acquisition (via trade) in Utah Jazz history may very well be Tom Gugliotta.

Tom Gugliotta? What? You can't be serious? What if I told you that the Trade for Tom Gugliotta directly led to the acquisitions of Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur, and a top 3 overall pick and future NBA superstar? Here's how the trade went down.

I found this article posted by a blogger at http://thesaltpalace.blogspot.com/. It brings up some interesting perspectives on that 2010 pick.

Thoughts?

Hard to call this trade the best ever when most has turned into nothing.

Most of this trade has floundered into nothing. Kirk Snyder is garbage, the Whale was just as his name stated, and the 2010 pick is yet unproven.

If you're going off of proven commodities, Jeff Malone for Jeff Hornacek was clearly better.

I am not going to say "greatest" until after the NY pick is made. Kobe for Vlade and Dirk for Traylor is still higher.

I think he means the best trade in franchise history.

I see. Well, if the pick becomes a full bust then Jeff Malone for Hornacek is higher. If the pick becomes a valuable player or trade chip then yes.

It was not bad, but it only gave us possibilities. Boozer and Okur could sign for that, but you could put another two names.
