Make your Jazz predictions

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 5:56 pm

I like to make some predictions about how the Jazz are going to do once the roster seems set. And as far as I can tell, this is it.

So...

Jazz 55-27
First in Midwest
Lose in WCF
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

58-24
Another Division banner
Meet the Hornets in WCF and take the series in five. We play the Cavs in the finals goes to seven games because our rotation of AK, Harpring, Miles defense is anywhere close to stopping the king. But Boozer redeems himself with a huge finals performance. Deron Williams gets finals MVP. Salt Lake City will hold a parade for seven days and seven nights, Dinky Bits tries to crash the party but is struck dumb and blind upon seeing Deron Williams and Coach Sloan shaking hands in front of the Stockton and Malone statues. Not surprisingly Dwill is still ESPN's red-headed stepchild they refuse to acknowledge.

Jazz enter the playoffs Divisions champs and third seeded. Lose the t-breaker to Houston 59-23. Hornets fourth (57-25)

Win WCF against the Lakers. But lakers get an injury and Bynum goes down again in the Utah series. Still it goes seven and the Jazz pull it out in LA. The Jazz knock off Detroit in 5. Detroit barely squeeks by the 76's in the ECF. (Boston's old men can't play without injury and it drops them out of the 09 race).

Deron is the MVP. AK staying with the Jazz this years pays off. AK, Okur, Boozer, and William all are in the running for the all star team; though only Deron and Boozer make it again. Sloan retires and Larry's son carrys on the Jazz organization very successfully in-spite of Larry dieing from a heart attack as the Jazz win the NBA Championship.

-Epilogue: AK gets traded in the offseason, gets and extention with another hugh contract the following year and then gets injuried after playing 20 games and never returns to his past playing performance, he is cut by the team two years later and picked up as a vet minimum the next year as he rides the bench fading into NBA history.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

-epilogue: AK is traded after the Boozer and Okur signings to a team with cap space for a future draft pick. He plays out his contract and makes good on his vow to play in Russia the following year. LHM adds years to his life by avoiding the luxury tax. In celebration, the Jazz sign free agent Jeff Foster with remaining cap space w/o taking on any crap contracts in any trade process. Draftnet.com give them A+ in their cap rankings for re-signing their stars and keeping all their young players with their very affordable conracts.

57-25 2nd seed right behind the Lakers.

At least a WCF appearance and possibly Finals. I'm extremely excited for our team this year and we all know the effort will be there considering the amount of contract years we got goin..

I think this is the best team the Jazz have had depth wise maybe ever, it isn't as good as Stockton and Malone, but this is a very good team

Due to a freak glitch in the matrix I say the Jazz go 83-0.

jazz take the division again and enter the playoffs with a solid 3 seed. this time its a sweep of houston and tmac not only cries on his way out of the locker room but on his way out of houston.

next round is san antonio who is a 7th seed who upset #2 LA. despite a solid perfomance by duncan, okur comes through and wins the battle of the undersized c's/oversized pf's. jazz in 7 (youth wins those marathons).

conference finals is verses #1 new orleans and league mvp chris paul. need i say more? jazz in 5 with paul gettin a taste of williams, chandler of booze, mopete of brew/cj and peja of harp/kk. we also see ak get his latest 5x5 in the series clincher as dwill and booze go down with foul trouble in the early 2Q (is it really that hard to predict that?)

nba finals vs orlando. booze vs howard, okur vs hedo, dwill vs ??? jazz in 6 only because orlando (like utah) has been playing with a chip on their shoulder the whole playoffs. magic had to get through miami, philly, and boston to get there despite several questionable calls and close OT games. maybe even a suspension or 2. howard dominates the pf battle but booze wins the rebound cat. and after all the individual battles, the jazz were clearly the better team and dwill get finals mvp.

post 09 season. sloan retires, having never received coty but instead a trophy. ak, having showed his value, gets traded to a lottery team( where he can be the man) for relief and a draft pick or 2. booze re-signs for big money as does okur (tho not as much). corbin gets head coaching job (johnson retires with sloan) and horny gets #2 assistant behind layden.

56-26 NW champs, second round exit, due to Boozer's lack of defense :)

Just depends on Okur, Boozer and Korver. (Millsap??) There really might not be much cap space left to take back on a trade. No AK hate, just $$$.

38-44
Boozer AK and Williams all come in tired from the summer. Okur is overweight. Jazz start real slow. Then injuries happen. My thoughts are Williams and Okur. Jazz end up in the 9th spot with the 14th pick in the lotto draft.
