Is it time for Ron to retire?

While watching the game last night against the Lakers I can't help but wonder about Ron Boone and how much longer he will be at it. He made a few comments last night that were flat out bad. First while talking about Deron he started naming off some accomplishments. He's an Olympic gold medalist, an all-star, and 2nd team all NBA. WTF??
Then later while the were talking about the Honda Center Ron was like " yeah and the NHL team that plays here is the Miami.............. Then Boler hurried and jumped in trying to save him by totally changing the subject.
What do you guys think? Is it time for him to move on? Do you think he has a few years left of bumbling over his words?

He should commentate as long as we have sloan coaching. Sloan is 4 yrs OLDER than Ron, so imagine all the mental errors going on there.

Who cares if Ron is getting cenile (sp??)...
Without Booner, I'll never know how many dollars have been donated by our real estate friends at Mtn America Credit Union....
Or how many miles it is to the Rainbow Hotel and Casino...the best place to stay and play in Wendover...

This is the stupidest thread ever. You all realize Bailey or Mannion replaces him. Its lose lose.

They haven't replaced Hot Rod on the radio and he's has a lot more screw-ups than Boone. I'm sorry to say it, but I don't think Booner's going anywhere until he decides to retire. The Jazz certainly aren't going to force him out.

I just don't want someone worse to come in. I'd rather here a crazy old man then a young guy who just wants to talk.

You want to explain to me how that makes it the stupidest thread ever. Don't make a stupid comment like that if you don't back yourself up. If it's stupid then don't reply.

Its a stupid thread because the last thing that should be discussed on a Jazz message board is Ron Boone. Him being replaced by Mannion or Bailey is just a fact.
There is so much to talk about with the season starting in 3 weeks and this isnt basketball related. Talk about the backup PG battle, CJ, reactions from last night. Who cares about Boone, he isnt that bad. Jazz fans dont realize how much better Boler and Boone are compared to some of the other commentators in the NBA. Get league pass and watch Boston and Denvers broadcast to name a few. Beyond all of this you make a pointless hypothetical question and poll. How many more yrs? Why not just ask if people think whether he should retire or not.

Hot Rod is definitely more senile at this point...I was listening to the game online and there was a good 15 minutes where he kept calling one of the Lakers Ronny Turiaf...still can't figure out who he was actually referring to.

probably Josh Powell.
You all get off of Hot Rods case...he needs his talent juice(It sounded like a whiskey game last night) to survive.

I'd like Hornacek to announce. Not sure he'd want the job though. But, he'd be great in NBA broadcasting.

His wife just died, my guess is he isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it'd probably be hard finding something to do during the season.

i remember how much i hated Boler when i first saw him on the TV, hes grown on me soo much since then. But as much as could try, i dont know if anyone can replace the spot in my heart that i have for Ron Boone. A Jazz game wont be a Jazz game without him. I really enjoy all the pointless stuff he says and his half way finished sentences. I would hate to start thinking about his retirement this soon.

Boone is a staple in my life. I find his foibles endearing. I have met him too and he is super nice. And not a Jazz oriented meeting either, he was a paying customer.

You guys are haters Boone is the man. He played in a record 1041 consecutive games in the ABA/NBA combined and also holds the all time ABA record for most turnovers.
Ten more years for Booner! It will be fun to listen to him get more and more bumbly with his words.
