I know I'm probably one of the biggest Brew homers on the board, but does anyone agree with me that Brew has shown the most improvement in the off-season?

I think Brew is going to become a beast. I see it in his game. He is challenging and winning with his strength. He has more confidence and experience. He is beginning to see that he can take people down low and finish. It's going to be interesting to see how it pans out. I'm thinking he is going to become a good offensive option as the season progresses, and I'm not just talking on the baseline. I would post him up and feed him the ball every once in a while.

I really like his new confidence in his jumpshot. It doesn't look like he's hesitating like he did last year.

Yeah I think we might have the best backcourt in the West in about 2-3 yrs.

You have to love when you see a guy come back from the break and look HUGE! Both he and Korver have gained some muscle mass that was nowhere to be seen last year, but Brewer more so. This may very well be the difference maker in our season. Boozer is already a beast, DWill is large for his position, and now these guys look amazing. You have to love the shape of what our team looks like right now, minus Memo, but nobody expects him to be a big bulky center.

Memo is in the best shape of his career. In fact, I don't think there's an out of shape player on our active roster.

I didn't mean to say he was out of shape, but just that he doesn't look huge like the others I mentioned, because that is simply not how he is built. I just meant he doesn't look intimidating like Shaq or whatever, but yes, he is in great shape.

I just love to see these guys take their positions seriously, and gain the bulk they need to compete. That shows you they are truly dedicated to making the best of what they have been given.

The Jazz line-up is big. Since they're going to get called for a ton of fouls anyways, I want to see them make the most out of it and get REALLY physical every single game. Make opponents fear playing the Jazz and the bruises that go with it

I love the way that brewer plays, he is always near the basket. Now that he seems to have worked on his jumper he is going to be dangerous. What I really like about Brewer is that he makes very few mistakes for a player his age, he just plays smart. Doesn't force shots, he just plays really solid. Great player.

I'm right there with you ColdBlue. I went so far as to predict--last season--that he was going to be an All-Star at some point in his career. The guy is an amazing athlete, and he is good and getting better with the ball in his hands....but what we see with him that you RARELY see with a guy that athletic and skilled, is an innate ability to get open for easy shots around the hoop without the ball. He will get you at least 1 easy layup and game that way, and some games he will get you 6 or 7 of them. Those are free points, and they make a big difference in the big picture, imo.

Not only that, but he has shown, at times, an ability and willingness to rebound that I never expected to see out of him. If he can up his production there, while still being an efficient scorer (and upping his volume there a little as well) and an ever-improving defensive presence, than he will already be at the level right below All-Star. The only thing he will need after that is one "move" offensively that he can turn to in a pinch, and that would put him over the hump.

I don't think there's any doubt that he has arrived as a legit solid NBA player at this point, and I would honestly not be surprised at all if he suddenly busted out and started putting up 20 on people regularly. My concern is how we're going to retain him long term. If his value gets beyond 7m a year, we're screwed. That's why I'm hoping that he does just enough to warrant a strong extension from us after this year, while not completely busting out into the 10m per range. *crosses fingers**

I hope he does bust out.
this team has always lacked a great athletic wing.
B-Russ was about the best.

It will force the Jazz to make some tough decisions, and maybe cut loose an older decrepit wing palyer, and maybe a young up and comer.

I love Brew Brew and I'm excited at what he's becoming I just wished we had already locked him up for the long-term contract wise because at this pace he's going to demand a pretty good sized contract.

Yeah, I'm a little concerned that Brew will bust through the MLE threshold and start fielding offers from teams willing to grossly overpay for him (i.e. 10 million).

But as I constantly remind myself: let's just enjoy the ride this year. It's probably the only one we'll get of this team as presently constituted. One of your big names is gone, and probably a couple role players. But for now? Damn, do we have a good, deep team.

Brew looked good tonight. I think he was one of the main reasons we won

If he busts out too much we can't afford his services.

Be careful what you wish for.

I dont think you have to worry about that J-stock. He probably wont average more then he did last yr. Perhaps a few more ppg, but thats it.

The thing that helps us the least with Brewer is that CJ is payed 3.7 mil. That practically guarantees Brewers agent asking for 7 mil as the starting point.

If Brewer declines an extension and goes to RFA we will have Harpring, possible Almond off the books which frees 8.5 mil. We also would be one yr away from AK being off the books.

When you look at our cap situation you really appreciate the way KOC designed this team. We'd never have to take a cap burden longer then a yr or two.
