Deron Williams out against Denver, probable for Saturday.

Just heard it on the radio. Sounds good to me!

Edit:

So the radio lied, SLtrib is saying it looks like the Portland game will be Deron's return.

Well, I think that was what everyone of us expected. No problem. No need to rush back and turn this into a lingering problem.

Is he practicing yet? And if we play well against the Nuggets might as well wait until the Portland game.

I think our first 2 games are very winnables without Deron.
Let's gonna wait for a complete heal.

I agree, but it doesn't surprise me DWill is going to come back. He is of the Jerry Sloan/Karl Malone/John Stockton cut and mold, though with a bit more star power and NBA-ambassadorship. We learned this about him last playoffs when he slammed his wrist hard in the Lakers game 3, then dominated the 2nd half with his passing. Then came back Game 4 and lit it up as if nothing happened. But we all know that hurt like hell.......

Dont expect Williams to miss many games in his career......

Now I am hearing that he is doubtful for Saturday. Who knows, both reports came from 1320 KFAN.

Personally, I think they should make him sit out an extra week. Our schedule to start out the season allows for this, and we might as well take advantage of it and make sure we don't make a mistake. We can't afford to.

I'm not at all that worried about Denver, LAC, and Portland. We could go 3-1 without DWill in the lineup, and that is just fine with me. Last night Oden looked more like Kwame than the superhero he has been made out to be. I think it will take him at least a month to get into the swing of how the NBA works. Like I said, it's gonna take at least a few years for Portland to become a real threat.

Get all healed DWill, we need you at your best!

Sitting him out the first 3 games is the best decision IMO, all winnable games without Deron, and a loss isn't going to be the end of the world. The Portland game is a week from now, I think he'll be good then. If we do decide to sit him for Portland, then we as might as well rest him for 2 weeks because the next two weeks is pretty easy except for Portland, and they are likely to have Oden out for their game against us.

Let me tell you, what we can't afford is to punt these "easy" games. With the depth at the top of the Western Conference, you simply have to win your easy games. It is THE reason why we were the 5th best record last year, instead of sitting there at #1 throughout the playoffs. We have to have them.

Now I have a tidbit, and you can take it with all the salt you want, but its true:
My brother is getting married soon, and he was in one of the high-class dress suit stores in downtown SLC. Apparently, just before he came in, CJ Miles had been there getting fitted for a suit. According to the store manager, CJ said that Deron was practicing at nearly full tilt for the last few days, and is begging the coaches to let him go on Saturday.

Take it for what its worth, but I promise its true. I know it sounds a little De2ndesque...but, well...yeah.

The way I see it we get very lucky with getting a clipper team that will be much better later in the season then what we will see.

Portland is a jump shooting team so who knows what we will get that game...no Oden helps. Rebounding is key.

and OKC is winnable.

The trib stated that DW tried to comeback too soon to practice and ended up aggravating his ankle. We need to shut him down till his ankle is fully healed.

I don't think he did anything to push the injury back. I think he just realized he wasn't as close to playing as he thought he was.

So basically we're to hang our credibility on a men's warehouse clerk who may or may not have actually serviced CJ Miles...and we heard it from the mouth of the brother of some annonymous dude we chat Jazz hoops w/ on the internet. Did I get that straight?

Sorry...but your post adds little value..........

Like I said, play it safe, and have him sit as long as he possibly would need to. We all know how important those wins are, but if he isn't ready and gets injured again, what then? I would rather lose 2 or 3 easy games without him, than watch the Jazz play another 3-4 weeks of basketball without him against top tier teams. Are you kidding me? That way we don't even make the playoffs. Don't get so greedy, nobody wants to see this ship needlessly sink prematurely...

If Jazz are serious about winning, they have to beat the Clippers with or without Williams, no matter where the game is played. The same is valid for Portland. We cannot afford to be doubtfull about this games. Clippers are just Clippers... you know what I mean... and Portland seriously looked minor league team against Lakers....
No need to rush Williams.
BTW... I have just watched Rockets@Mavs and Hornets@Suns.... Rockets looked good and Artest looked very good... Suns looked tired, Nash played a really bad game and continue without a serious backup... Hornets looked competitive yet a little bit more "long-jumper happy" than desirable... Hornets leading by 15 and Chris "The Magician" Paul opted to set teammates for treys all the time, or to just set himself for a trey or a superacrobatic jump shot... when the game was on the line with the Suns down by 2 or 3 Posey had to take care of the game with a couple clutch treys...

"take it with all the salt you want..."

Did you get the added disclaimers straight? Apparently not.

Erudite's overarching premise was entirely accurate. Not winning these "easy" games is what prevented the Jazz from finishing at or near the top of the conference last year. They are, in fact, important.

This is not to say that D-Will should come back before he's ready.

Sorry...but I didn't see how your post added much value either. People who post from glass houses...

Thanks for taking out the trash. +1

And no one is advocating bringing Deron back before he's ready. What the conversation is about is whether we should be ultra cautious or just cautious, because I'm pretty sure that DWill would be ok to play on the ankle tomorrow if it was an important game. My point is, really, that using the "hey, these are easy teams, we don't have to have DWill to win" is a flawed argument. The team needs its leader. A loss or two to a team that we have no business losing to still counts on the season total, even if its early, even if its without DWill. I would rather we were playing the Lakers, Spurs or Celtics on the road (since we're not likely to win those games anyway) without him than play the pupu platter deluxe and lose one or two games that we should 100%, without a doubt, win.

But either way, Deron will come back when he comes back. Nothing we say will change it, so we'll just have to see what happens.

You guys should be careful about underestimating the Blazers and calling it an "easy" game. Yeah we looked like garbage against the Lakers but we beat the Spurs last night without Oden. Another thing is the Blazers first five games are....@ the Lakers, Spurs, @ Phoenix, @ Utah, and then at home for the Rockets. We have some high level competition leading into the Jazz game.....the Blazers will be ready, don't look past them or it's gonna hurt. I don't understand why Jazz fans write off the Blazers after Utah lost 3 out of 4 to them last year. We have the same team as we did last year....except that Rudy guy, and Oden are new additions....I don't know someone please explain it to me.
