Deron Williams Injury set back

Looks like it is 4-6 weeks from the original injury, and though he is ahead of schedule he is anything but guaranteed to play on the road trip at all.

He said he might try to play on the first night of back to back's but honestly if that is going to be the case he might as well just sit out and not threaten the injury at all.

We are only a little under 3 weeks into the injury so it could take a while.

:nonono:

That sucks.

On the bright side Deron should be fresher in the post-season, right?

it does suck in a way that WCF seedings could be so close like last year, every loss would be significant. but i rather have him sit out right now then rush him and have him sit out during playoffs.

brevin knight s play is encouraging enough to believe jazz will get through deron s injury period without suffering much damage.

OMG, WTF! Don't fans deserve to know the truth about an injury? I guess not!

We are very lucky to have a great schedule though:

Fri 07 vs Oklahoma City [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm FSN
Sun 09 @ New York Continental Airlines 1:00pm FSN
Tue 11 @ Philadelphia 5:00pm FSN
Wed 12 @ Washington 6:00pm FSN
Fri 14 @ Charlotte 5:00pm FSN
Sat 15 @ Cleveland 5:30pm FSN
Mon 17 vs Phoenix [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm KJZZ
Wed 19 vs Milwaukee [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm FSN
Fri 21 @ San Antonio 6:30pm FSN
Sat 22 @ Memphis 6:00pm FSN
Mon 24 vs Chicago [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm FSN
Wed 26 vs Memphis [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm FSN
Fri 28 vs Sacramento [BUY TICKET] 7:00pm FSN
Sat 29 vs New Jersey [BUY TICKET]

We could actually be about 15-3 or 14-4 through 19 games, and that's a very realistic scenario. That's also the worst case scenario, 6 weeks. Hopefully we have Williams for the Suns and Spurs.

Keep in mind that Houston won about a dozen games in a row without Yao Ming, and far less depth.

I also had a feeling when he talked about the blood in his foot a week ago that he was well behind schedule.

With Sloan being much more flexible about lineups, Price and Knight can manage the issue for a couple more weeks. Not an ideal situation for sure, but we're much better equipped now than last year. The real issue here is that we need Williams to be completely healthy.
Moreover, IMHO, even when Wiliams get healthy to play, he should be rested more minutes per game than last year; we will need him at full strenght coming playoff time, and we will need our backup PGs burned enough to manage playoff competition.
We are in "CHAMPIONSHIP NOW" mode; Jazz have to do just what they have been doing: to go out there and compete no matter who's available and who's not. And we the fans should have to do the same: not to worry about it, not to analyze schedules, not to be much concerned, because we KNOW FOR CERTAIN we can manage it. 8-)

Well....all I can say is that we have to keep finding ways to post wins. We've done an impressive job of manufacturing leads in this early stretch. That Portland game in particular was good to see.

This could be a big advantage for later in the season, for games in which Deron is in foul trouble or goes out for a game or a quarter. This could be big in developing Ronnie and Brevin, should that happen.

But this season just doesn't feel like its started until I see Deron out there on the court. I will /wrists if we lose to the f***ing Knicks again this year.

****ING DERRICK ROSE!

All I know is that Monday when Chicago comes to town Deron will make Rose his bit(h. I'm thinking Williams posts a 30 and 15 game at least. Lets hope when Deron is able to lace em' up he's 100%. I would hate to see Williams favor the ankle and not be able to take the ball into the lane the way he does.

Well, he still said he is ahead of schedule, and they said it was a 4-6 week injury, and it's been about 3 weeks. Let him sit today, let him sit against New York for sure and then see if he's better for Philly.

I'll be there too. Upset that DW isn't 100% yet but we should be able to outscore MIke D's offense.

The Brevin Knight trade looked great before. Now it looks like prophetic genius.

I agree, I'm going to say Cleveland (next Saturday) is the night he returns. Even though AK will the biggest factor in this game, with the job of containing James, Williams is an additional perimeter shooter, he can drive, and basically get his shots how ever he wants. Plus he's as good as anybody at racking up assists. Knight has been great, but he needs more help than Price.

WILLIAMS TO THE RESCUE!

Williams has always beat schedules that have been set before him.
