ATL/UTAH Trade: Boozer/Joe Johnson

Post#1 » by mikecb8 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 5:58 pm

Thoughts on this trade. Works according to ESPN.com

To ATL:
Boozer
Brewer or Miles

To UTAH:
Joe Johnson

Why ATL does it
Lineup of Bibby/Brewer or Miles/Horford/Smith/Boozer is upgrade over what they have

Why UTA does it
Lineup of Williams/Johnson/Okur/Miles or Brewer/Millsap is strong. Game finishing lineup of Williams/Johnson/Okur/AK/Millsap provides scoring punch along with strong interior D with AK and Millsap patroling paint.

KOC: Make it happen!!!!!

Miles has to approve any trade, and Brewer is too much to add. Plus I don't think either team really wants the straight up deal.

Why not target John Salmons? Sacramento is apparently making him available. His contract goes a couple more years at a very reasonable $5-6 million. Not bad for 20 ppg and a 50% fg rate. Also 43%a from 3. My guy Brewer isn't quite getting it done. I'd do something with Sacramento.

Salmons wouldn't be anything more then an average player on our team. Sactowns **** makes him look good.

Joe Johnson is a very good player, but a bad fit here, and to give up Boozer AND Brewer to get him? No thanks.

Actually I think he'd be a terrific player for us. Care to explain what makes you think he'd be a bad fit?

Boozer and Brewer is a bit much for him, but it's worth it..

Okur/Koufos/Fesenko
Millsap/Collins
Miles/Kirilenko/Harpring
Johnson/Korver/Almond
Williams/Knight/Price

We'd have to draft a back up PF, but in the mean time AK and Okur can do quality minutes as the back up PF.

I'd love to have Boozer but not for Joe because of two reasons I have in mind:

- Joe is our franchise player
- Boozer does not seem to like sticking around

Only because of how much he seems to need the ball in his hands. He's got a good mentality and skill set for us, I concede.

But I can't see the Hawks doing this trade anyway -- not on account of value, as talent-wise, I think they come out better, but because they have little to no hope of holding on to Boozer next summer, in my opinion.

I was looking for username HolyToledo, but it didn't appear anywhere. Then I notice, that at least there was a grain of sand of critical thinking to it. Then I knew for sure it wasn't HolyToledo.

Still no.
