Watching the WEST Thread 09

I liked this thread a lot last season. A place to talk about the games going on besides the Jazz game.
Tonight there are some good ones:
LAL @ HOU
DAL @ DEN
ATL @ PHX
The Jazz find themselves in the 8 spot in the West right now, they are 8 games behind LA for the #1 spot and 2 games behind Denver for the Division lead.

Anyone see the end of the Lakers/Rockets game tonight? Yao shot a fade-away two with five seconds left when the Rockets were down three. LOL
Also, D-Miles scored 13 points in 13 minutes (haha Portland) and the Heat snapped the Wolves 5 game winning streak so we are now the HOTTEST team in the west with 4 straight, (same for the Lakers) OMG!

Jazz have now have moved up to 7th with the Rockets loss. The Wolves have won 5 straight??? No ****.
Also Dallas' loss gave us a full game on them.

Would have liked to have seen Dallas win yesterday to pull the Nuggets and the fourth seed that much closer, but it's really a win/win for the Jazz when legit Western Conference teams lose. Also Houston losing was nice for the Jazz, I think by the end of the month the Jazz could be battling it out with San Antonio for the #2 seed!
Winning these next three games on the road would be massive.
Three games for the Jazz to watch out for tonight. (not counting their own)
Portland @ Philly: Jazz could overtake Portland with a Blazers Loss and a Jazz win tonight!
New Orleans @ Dallas: Personally I think Dallas will fade naturally so a NO loss would be good, really a win win though!
Lakers @ San Antonio: This is a good game, and would like to see the Spurs lose and the Jazz pull with in a game of them!
Amazing for how terrible the Jazz have been this season, they are 2.5 games out of HCA until the WCF! Lets do it Jazz!!!

I agree, I think the 1 seed is pretty much out of reach at this point. The Lakers will probably have a little slump somehwere, but no way are we making up 9 games on them with 45 or so left.

I don't have much faith in the Sixers with Brand still down from his shoulder separation. Still, it'll be fine if we just keep pace with Portland (assuming we can escape the mighty Thunder).
I'd prefer to see the Hornets lose tonight, because as Bat said, Dallas will probably drift down to a bottom seed before the year is out.
And the Lakers are out of everyone's reach, so Kobe might as well put up 60 and knock the Spurs down a game.

Actually the Sixers have been much better since Brand went down. They're faster paced without Brand which helps Igoudala do his thing more effectively.

Denver has Lakers status now.
Grant Hill was clearly fouled and tripped at the end of regulation, yet no foul called. If it was a marquee player it would have been. Its so hard for me to get excited about the NBA anymore. It was my first love, but now I cant even stand to watch it because these refs and superstar calls have bastardized it. Sure there is more individual cheating in baseball and football (steroids and such), but those 2 games remain pure and without bias. Peyton Manning doesn't get PI calls because he is throwing a pass. The Umpire doesn't call a strike zone different for Pujlos.

Portland won tonight so . . . blah.
Denver beat Suns tonight also which really was a win/win, but I would have preferred to see the Nuggs lose.
Good ones tomorrow. Spurs @ Resurgent Sixers, Orlando (best road team) @ LA, NOH @ Cavs (Cavs on back to back, but havent lost at home), and Minny @ Suns (blah).

I have actually been thinking a lot about the NBA to MLB, NFL comparison. You would never ever see what is going on in the NFL playoffs right now in the NBA because of superstar treatment. I dont even know why the NBA allows it to go on. Surely they know that it is not exciting for the fans to watch a game that is 3 hours and is mainly filled with FT shooting.
If the MLB were officiated like the NBA is the Yankees would never have missed the playoffs last year, and probably would have won the world series (which is fine by me GO YANKEES), but they didnt. The playoffs ran their natural course and a team (the Phillies) that had no megastar came away with the Championship.

Man those 'Bucs' jerseys that NO was wearing were uglier than the Cavaliers throwbacks. Thank goodness we don't wear ridiculous throwbacks.

I like the throwbacks. I wish the Jazz would do a throwback night occassionally.

Our old jerseys are nice, but it gets ridiculous when they start whipping out old ABA ones and those ugly ones that the Cavs now wear. And the throwbacks don't look nice with how big players wear them anyway.

I want to see the late 90's jerseys in action again. I think I was the only person who liked them but I miss the old days if AK in the white mountain jersey, that was sick.
