Tor/Utah Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by TheDrunkenOak » Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:45 pm

I'm interested in seeing the reaction for this trade proposal.

Bosh and O'Niel for AK, Boozer, Harpring, Brewer and a future unprotected 1st

Why for Tor? If the ship is sinking, blow it up and start fresh.

Why for Utah? Well, you already have a center, why need another one, right? But, actually, i would flip O'Neil to Houston for TMac, i'm sure Houston would love having O'Neil and you could def use TMac's 3's

TMac is more injury prone than JO. Who is to promise that Houston would even do that? Why would they want JO when they have Yao and Scola plus a bunch of other bigmen?

I am not so sure that I would do this. Toronto is struggle with a teams based around these two and now we are going to basically give up three starters, our 6th man, and an unprotected first (which we can't do anyway).

Isn't JO's contract worse than AK's and he is more injury prone than AK or Boozer?

Bosh/Williams sounds sick..

But no AK? AK for O'Neal doesn't seem worth it.

Jermaine has only one year left on his contract....so on that note it sounds pretty good. I think that the details would need to be worked out though because our front court would be clogged and our shooting guard and small forward rotations would be screwed. Also, I don't see Toronto taking on the risk of Boozer walking. If something like this did happen though I think it would be a three-way or four way, maybe something that looked more like this:

Utah out:
Boozer
Kirilenko
Almond
Brewer

Utah in:
Bosh
Marion

Bosh/Koufos/Okur
Millsap/Okur
Marion/Harpring/Korver
Miles/Korver/Price
Williams/Knight/Price

Toronto Out:
Bosh
O'neil
Kapono
Bargnani

Toronto in:
Boozer
Kirilenko
Brewer
Dalembert
Williams

Dalembert/Voshkuhl
Boozer/Humphries/Moon
Kirilenko/Kapono/Moon
Brewer/Parker
Calderon/Ukic/Solomon

Miami Out:
Marion
Cook
Banks

Miami in:
O'neil
Kapono

O'niel/Anthony/Blount
Beasley/Haslem
Kapono/Almond/Jones
Wade/Wright
Chalmers/Quinn/Banks

Philidelpha out:
Dalembert
Williams

Philidelphia in:
Bargnani
Cook
Banks

Bargnani/Smith/Ratliff
Brand/Evans/Young
Igoudala/Young
Cook/Green/Rush
Miller/Banks

I like Chris Bosh but I hate O'neal. I've never been that impressed. As good as he is sometimes, he's injury prone and from what I've seen is absolutely shut down by double-teams. I think this trade makes us worse...i'd consider something along the same lines without taking so much from the Jazz.

@babyjax13

Interesting trade ideas. I think the only team that wouldn't want to deal would be Miami. I doubt Riley would take on Kapono's contract

I like babyjax's better... maybe switch Miles for Brewer.

Miles has the right to refuse trades, FYI.

I think giving up 2 starters and our 6th Man is a little much. Perhaps swapping Brewer for CJ or Almond. I would give up damn near anything to get Bosh, so Taking on Jermaine's attitude and contract for the short run is okay with me. In the Jazz offense and system I think Jermaine actually starts to look more like his former self. Although, I suppose if they were dead set on Brew then they can throw in Anthony parker. I think it's not too far off though.

Oh boy, Bosh lovers. How in the world is Chris Bosh better than Carlos Boozer? Answer: he definitely isn't. Carlos is a low post threat ... Bosh really isn't. Carlos shoots with more accuracy and rebounds a lot better. No contest. Boozer's efficiency per 48 is third in the entire league behind just James and Paul, and way better than Bosh. There is a reason that Toronto is losing regularly ... and Bosh is part of it.

Bosh is part of it but he isn't the only reason. Bosh at least tries on defense.

I don't think that Bosh should be happy to arrive in Utah...

Congrats.... you just made a lowly Toronto team better than Utah.

@drivewayball

I don't see how Utah would be all that bad. Your starting 5 would be:
pg-Williams
sg-Miles
sf-Macgrady
pf-Bosh
c-Okur

To me... That atleast looks like a team that could compete in the west. Sure Tmac is injured now, but come playoff time, having him spot up and knock down those jumpers would be valuable.

For Toronto, Boozer, would never re-sign with them. He would be a rental player for half a year, then he would be used as cap space to sign someone else.

Toronto : sends O'Neal, Humpries, Moon, 2nd round pick

Utah : sends Boozer and Jerry Sloan.

Seriously. :D

I would much rather have Bosh then Boozer. For one Boozer is terrible on defense and struggles come playoff time. Boozer has missed a 1/3 of his games due to injurys since he arrived in Utah. Thats right! He misses on the average 1 of every 3 games. I think dependability counts for a lot. And as much as I like AK and the help defense he brings he is way overpaid.
