Why I love Jerry Sloan....

Post#1 » by xstockholmsyndromex » Sat Feb 7, 2009 6:20 am

I dont know how many of you caught the interview with Sloan after the Kings game, but it reminded me of one of the many reasons why I love Jerry Sloan.

A reporter asks Sloan about Chris Webber, since the Kings retired his Jersey, and what he remembers about him as a player...

Sloan responds "I remember him knocking John Stockton to the floor. I always wondered why he didnt try to knock Malone to the floor."

Reporter: "Because he couldnt knock Malone down."

Sloan: "Exactly. Shows some real toughness to knock the smallest guy on the court on the floor."

I dont think the reporter was expecting that response, but I loved it!!

I love how they showed that tonight as part of like "classic Webber" moments for the Kings, but when you are like a 6-9 250 lb PF (or whatever he was) and one of your all-time best moments was cheap shoting a 6-1 PG . . . that is just sad.

Webber was a pussy. Karl Malone would have kicked his @** right off and he knew it.

LOL!

That's pretty classic. Usually, Sloan would just give the "he's a great player" response. This obviously, as it should, has stuck in his craw, though.

Webber always was the weak and sad sort.

While Webber certainly is a pussy, why DIDN'T Malone take his head off after he knocked John down?

I wonder why Sloan didn't bring up Malone's hit on Isiah.

I kid, I kid.

'Cause Malone took out D-Rob and Brian Grant too. If Webber also had "decked Charles Oakley" on his resume, it wouldn't be as bad.

Malone, to me, is a guy who went too far on several occasions. Webber is just a pansy.

He may have, but we are missing a guy on the team like that. Did you see Kobe go after Rondo, and Odom go after Garnett? That toughness is what is helping the Lakers to win.
Boozer the Loozer.

Well, Harpring is one of the toughest players in the game. The only problem is that he isn't one of our main guys anymore, and you need at least one star on your team to have attitude, and it can't just be your point guard. Okur is the biggest puss in basketball, and Boozer isn't too far behind, so you can be assured when someone knocks down Williams nothing is going to happen to them on the part of any Jazz players.

Not really. In defense of my man Okur, I can vouch for him on many occasions, both in Turkey and in the U.S. Both in Detroit and Utah he stepped up to bump oposing players whenever he saw a teammate'd been wronged.
even beethoven had his critics. name three of them.
