I was more worried that they'd steel him, because if he was covered in steel he wouldn't get hurt so often.

If you didn't notice, they're making fun of your spelling

I think if I were to pick a place I would rather be than Salt Lake City, Detroit wouldn't even show up on that list. Good luck to Joe Dumars though.

So what you guys got Millsap and you could use the cap space in the summer to sign someone longterm at the center and maybe gets some more young talent (Ariza anyone) but if its that much of an issue I think you should trade him to Detriot right now and try to gain a pick or two for the future.

I honestly don't think Boozer will be in a Jazz uni next year. For the objective observer, I think the signs are pretty clear. As for him being a steal or even a still, I'm not seeing it. Paying max money to a guy who would most likely sit out:
3 games - ingrown pubic hair
4 games - chafed taint
5 games - really gnarly knot in armpit hair
6 games - razor burn on wrinkly scalp
7 games - really bad acne outbreak
Doesn't qualify as a "steal" in my book. Yeah, when he plays, he's a badass. No doubt about it. But for 15 to 20 million (or more) a year, I want a cat that'll play most of the games. It'd be a plus if he seemed to be more interested with winning than where he lives.
The Jazz are in the sad position of having enough talented players to contend for a championship, but no realistic way of hanging on to all of them. Since Booz seems to be the least interested in being a Jazzman, he's the most likely to go. JMO.

Do you think the OP originally intended on his name to be "add" but spelled it wrong also?

If they're willing to sign a injured riddled player to the max for over 5 years be my guest! At first I thought he'd opt out but the more i think about it, its probably in his best interest not to opt out!

Boozer likely wont be seeing anything close to the max; who is going to pay him? Utah can't afford to with out going so far over the lux tax (FYI- league execs sent a memo out to owners telling them that both the sal cap + lux tax likely will be dropping a lot in 09 and 10 offseason) and I doubt the Jazz do that given the current financial climate. Detroit has never given out a max contract, not even to Billups, Grant Hill or Ben Wallace; OKC and Memphis are young teams that may not have interest in overpaying for a 28 year old PF when they can get cheap young PFs with their draft picks.

The Pistons will have plenty of money to pay what they think is warranted. I don't think that Boozer is the difference between this year's Piston team and the championship level. They would still need other assets to improve themselves.

OKC, along with Detroit, are now the only two reasonable destinations for Boozer in the league, aside from anything involving a S&T, obviously.
This recession, odd as it seems, might actually end up being a huge benefit for the Jazz. With the crazy cost-cutting exercises going on around the league, I can't see him getting a huge deal from anyone. The Jazz certainly aren't going to offer him 100mil over 6 years. He's likely looking at a modest raise from what he's already getting, which is, *gasp*, about what he's worth. I can see him getting a 4 yr 55-60million deal. What's funny is that, if the economy recovers from this rut it's in, on the other side of this the Jazz could be looking at a couple of really good players locked up at a bit of a discount.
The Jazz still have to decide what direction they want to go with the Boozer/Memo/Millsap triumvirate, but at this point its looking more and more--to me--like Memo will be the odd man out. He's the oldest, probably will be the least effective player of the bunch in two years time, and will cost as much or more to re-sign than Millsap. On top of all that, he has a backup waiting in the wings that plays a similar game who very well could replace 65% of his productivity for 15% of the cost. Hate to see him go, but business is business, I guess.

I agree with keeping the younger players.
As much as I like Memo, I can't see him making much of an impact in a couple of years. Not worth the money to sign him to a huge contract.
