last three fouls on Yao were...?

Post#1 » by kwill » Thu Mar 5, 2009 5:48 pm

Absolutely correct. Rocket fans and the Rocket announcers are really whiny.

Foul 1. Yao lowered his shoulder and took Memo to the floor. This call was easy. The Rocket announcers are screaming that Memo flopped on the play. I watched that play 5 times because the announcers pissed me off. Yao leveled Memo, and sportscenter has the nerve to give the Rocket announcers credence. Not only did Yao lower his shoulder, but he also extended his arm. Rocket announcers should never be allowed to say anybody flopped. Battier and Artest are the masters of flopping. Battier looked like he was shot out of a cannon the time AK barely touched him on Brewers dunk. The Rocket announcers actually said AK steamed rolled Battier on that play. Horse patucky.

Foul 2. Yao Runs over Brewer. Now this foul was clearly the correct call. Brewer beat Yao to the spot and Yoa initiated the contact. I've seen this call consistently made in the NBA for 10 years. Now, did Brewer sell the foul. Yes he did. Did he get fouled, yes he did. Even if Yao believed Brewer flopped on that play, why are all the Rocket fans crying about this one call. I saw Deron get slapped several times on one drive to the whole, no call. I saw Memo called for a foul on Yao when he just had one bent arm on Yao's back and did not push off at all. These were worse calls.

Foul 3. The jump ball. This was just unbelievable. I watched this call 10 times and I even called my wife downstairs to review the play. Yao places his jumping arm directly on Memo's shoulder and holds him to the floor. This was an unquestionable and deliberate foul on Yao. Yao acts like it was the worst call he ever heard. The Rocket announcers actually say that Memo fouled Yao. What a joke. This was not only correct, it was necessary. The problem with these Rocket fans and Rocket announcers is that they throw these little hissy fits on plays that clearly cannot be disputed by anyone with a scintilla of basketball knowledge.

Houston did have one legitimate beef. 17 rebounds by Boozer. On at least 10 of these Boozer put his forearm in Yao's back and pushed off. Yao should have sold two or three of these push offs and Boozer would have fouled out early in the 4th quarter. These would be legitimate gripes.

Dunno why this is even up for discussion. But yeh, the brew close was the most questionable, it could have gone either way, but it went ours. That's the way the game works, and life goes on.

DelanyRudd

I was trying to be funny typing Yoa. I thought it sounded more like the sound little girls make when they cry. :D Given the lack of response to my post I might have to correct it.

I think the point is made. Lets move along.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."
