Who is the small forward and who is the shooting guard? Looking at their skill set, Brewer is a slasher, slight longer and stronger than Brewer and CJ is a better long rang shooter. Based on their skill set Brewer would be the small forward and CJ Miles, the shooting guard, but usually CJ is listed as the small forward, while Brewer is listed as the shooting guard.

You got it about right.

It's a match up issue really. Sometimes CJ comes and plays the SG but mostly Sloan like to have Brewer there. Brewer is fast and quick enough to guard the SG yet he is stronger than most and can take them to the block and get the advantage. Have you noticed he gets a lot of baskets off of running the base line when his defender isn't looking?

CJ and shoot/slash and jump so he can cover either position fairly easily. CJ's slashing and jumping abilitiy is better than most. I think the Jazz are grooming that in hopes he turns into more so of a player that can create his own shot. As he gets better at this the Jazz will open up another option that will make the Jazz that much more dangerous.... look out Lakers :D

The key in this argument is just this: CJ is AK's backup. AK plays the 3, so CJ plays the 3. But in the Jazz' offense, the two are almost entirely interchangeable. I think Sloan does it for Ronnie so that he doesn't have to be confused about his role changing a lot when AK comes in.

It really is that simple, I believe.
