As a rookie in 1984-85, Stockton shot 47 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free-throw line. Both were career-lows.

 What a dick.

Really, what was the point of that stat vs. a 19 year record setting career?

Umm...

I think it was a great point.

The best true point guard to ever play the game started out as someone most fans today would discount as a career backup, at best, after his first season.

Just my interpretation, but maybe fans should consider things like this before coming to a conclusion as to whether or not a certain young player is destined to be a scrub.

I'm laughing because for a PG to average a 47% shooting year is absolutely incredible, then the fact that he did it in his first season, that's what makes him a dick.

Stockton is the dick for being so much better then everyone else, not the writer.

oop.
Sometimes (okay, alot) I miss the point. I just think that stat would glare for a #1 pick or somebody really expected to do something from the get-go. Not somebody that came in, more or less, under the radar and put together such a stellar career.

OK, I really wasn't trying to be critical of anyone.

Honestly, I'm not that young, but I can't remember when John was drafted.

My older brother has told me repeatedly that he remembers and was PISSED when we drafted John.

Waste of a draft pick. You know, like Deron?

I am so glad Stockton and Sloan are going in together. I cant see how you could put one of them in but not the other this year. Nelson will have his time but this was Sloans turn to be recognized. Congrats to both of them.
