I don't think you can afford to lose either of them for nothing. You have to sign both of them and trade to get under the salary cap before the trade deadline.

Hi Jazz fans. Piston fan here. I know that Boozer would be looking to make over $12mil if he opts out. I guess he is worth the money but I am a bit concerned about the health of his knee especially if he ends up in a Piston uniform. I also read that Milsap should be looking at a max which is somewhere below $2mil. Are those figures correct? And which player would you rather keep? I am thinking Milsap.

Sorry. My bad. I was referring to hoopsworld.com where it listed that Milsap should start at a salary of $1,595,162. I didn’t mean that that was his max but wanted an idea from you guys in Jazz land who have watched him all season as to what he is worth. I hope I didn't misread the chart.

Kirilenko has to go if Jazz want to keep both Boozer and Millsap. If Okur resign or doesn't opt out we'll be again withe the same frontcourt.... If Boozer and Millsap stays, we need a traditional center.

You guys should keep Okur and Millsap. Trade Boozer(assuming he doesn't opt out) to a team like Detroit who can absorb most of his salary without sending back a big contract. As for Kirilenko, meh, no opinion but I don't see a big market for his services.
Unfortunately the Okur/Millsap frontcourt isn't ideal but you have the Knicks 2010 pick which should land the Jazz a very good PF with size in next year's deep draft.

yeah the more and more i look at things, it seems like we might have to sit through another painful season before things get better in 10/11

That salary cap hold is something different, ignore it, it's meaningless if we are not paying the luxury tax.
Jazz fans for some reason think we could get Millsap for $8M, the truth is, if we're LUCKY we get him between $8-10M per season, but for maybe 3 years, and in all likelihood he's going to want a long deal. He's probably going to wait and see what Boozer does. I have a feeling he doesn't want to stick around with Boozer, first of all, Boozer chomps up his PT, and he seemed somewhat disgruntled coming off the bench, just look at the drop off in his performance coming off the bench after Boozer's return. He picked it up in the playoffs, but that was probably because of pay day coming up. The reality is that if Boozer signs elsewhere, Millsap with get a $10-12M for about 5 years, and why not give him that, we gave Mehmet Okur a 6y/$50M deal after a 9.6ppg 5.9rpg season in Detroit. Obviously it was a very good deal for us, but man to deny Millsap a better deal than we offered a relatively unknown Okur is really a lowball deal.

When (not if) the Grizzlies don't get the #1 pick, they may well take a shot at Millsap. Would the Jazz match an offer sheet along the lines of what the Grizz signed Josh Smith last season ( 5 years @ $58 million)?

I don't think the Jazz can afford to give huge contracts to guys that aren't difference makers in the league. Milsap is a nice player, but, he's not a difference maker.
I see him more like 5yr 40 mil. Maybe with a player opt after 3.

Do the Jazz see Boozer as a difference maker?

I think he's a difference maker, WHEN HEALTHY. I don't know where the Jazz see him. But, you could see some of those difference making qualities in the playoffs. A couple big nights. I didn't think it was Boozer's fault we lost to the Lakers.
