So which west conf playoff team had the worst 1st round of the playoffs.
I am only considering the Jazz, Spurs, and Hornets.
Jazz were supposed to be the 2nd best team in the west. They were supposed to be the only team to beat the mighty lakers. They plummited and had to play the Lakers who are arguably the best team in the west. They ended up losing in game 5. Thier only win was by 2 points, the other 4 losses were by 13, 10, 14, 11
Spurs were considered a quality team that is always dangerous around playoff time. They played the lowly mavericks who some expected to not make the playoffs. They had home court advantage. They ended up losing in game 5. Their only win was by 21 points, the other 4 losses were by 8, 21, 9, 13
Hornets were supposed to be an elite team in the west. They played the newcommer Nuggetts that have not made it out of the first round in 10 years. They tied a record for the worst loss in playoff history. Their only win was by 2 points, the other 4 losses were by 19, 15, 58, 21
I am a Jazz fan, I am sorry but I think it has to be the hornets. because of the big losses. Spurs were a close second due to having home court and being dominated by the Mavs.

An old roster finally caught up with the Spurs. Half the Jazz roster is comprised of tin men. The Hornets plain got their doors blown off by a good, but not great Nuggets team. Losing by 58 at home then backing that up with a 21 point loss means the Hornets win the prize for getting penis whipped in the face the worst.

Uh, seems like a no brainer. 58 point blowout AT HOME in the PLAYOFFS!!
And we complain about the Jazz not showing any heart. Can you imagine the carnage if the Jazz did that?

Hornets, hands down. Losing to the Lakers is bad enough; being handed our asses by Denver would feel much worse. Actually makes me wonder if Utah would have fared better or worse against the Nuggets... And what would have happened had the Hornets played LA?

Jazz getting whupped by Denver. Wow that would of been bad. I think the entire lower bowl would of had to wear bags over their heads.

Actually to tell you the truth the Blazers might be the most disheartening of all of them.
I think most people who understand basketball realize that the Hornets weren't a contender of any kind, and as soon as people started taking them seriously they fell off.
The Blazers on the other hand looked like the up and coming team to beat, great young squad, huge talent, deep bench... and then they got bounced by a team who hadn't won a playoff series in like 10 years, and they lost to them even while having HCA.
That's a big time set back if you ask me. To look like you have finally broken through, then collapse.

I think Rockets aren't a good matchup for the Blazers, hence this series. Spurs without Manu weren't going to last long, and we were bad in the regular season. The Hornets were just awful.

The PPG differential in the Nuggets' series over New Orleans was OVER TWENTY-FOUR POINTS. The Jazz got outclassed by the Lakers (PPG differential 9.2), but it was nothing like what happened to the Hornets.

Blazers weren't really expected to win though. They're too young. I think this Jazz squad is old enough to not be able to excuse things due to inexperience.
