Was interviewed today and said some really interesting things.

On Boozer
"We'd love to have Carlos here. Carlos is a very talented player. I think he would be one who would be considered a marquee player. But I do have concerns about Carlos' defense and I have some concerns about his ability to lead the team."

On Millsap
"We would love to keep Paul on the team. We feel his development has been marvelous over the years. We think he has a great future ahead of him... we would not rule out paying luxury tax money to keep him."

On the luxury tax
"If we had to spend all the money and all the players with their options decided to come back... that would obviously put us in a luxury tax situation. If that were the case, we would be willing to go into the luxury tax realm."

On this season
"The thing that I'm most worried about is our toughness. I think we have very talented, capable players, we have respected players and players that know how to win. But I think there were elements of our team that left a bit to be desired."

So this is pretty promising as to what Greg Miller is going to be for this team. We have Harpring and Korver coming off the books next year, so I think that he realizes how this could play out (especially with the 2010 pick). The question I have is, who makes up our nucleus, who are the players we can stand to loose, and who are the ones we can't?

Well I am glad he isn't putting a hard cap on the team. It isn't wise to be long term above the tax, but a temporary bump into it shouldn't be ruled out. Strong teams need to be cap flexible which means not getting caught in cap hell.

This is promising. But, I am worried because this team needs change. I hope he doesn't think that we need to keep every player we have, because we don't. As crazy as it will be this year, it is going to be awesome next year when we have so many expirings offer, and the free agent market looks so tasty. Maybe we will have to put up with one more year of mediocrity to pick up what we need for this team.

IMO - this looks like Booze is going out of Utah like a antiquated liquor law.

wow, it is SO refreshing to hear those things from the owner of this team. He is dead on regarding our issues. Toughness, leadership and defense. I really hope the Jazz now do all they can to make the necessary changes to fill in the gaping holes that have been staring the jazz and jazz fans in the face for a while now. Sounds promising.
