Final Draft Prediction

Post#1 » by erudite23 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:47 pm

Ok guys, its just a few hours away now. How's it going to play out.

I can't remember the last draft where there was this much uncertainty. In 08 we knew we'd be looking at a certain range of big guys, and Kosta ended up falling allowing us to nab him unexpectedly. But we still had a list of 2-4 names we were confident we'd be looking at.

In 07 everyone and their bitch dog knew we were going for Almond, even though I was pleading for Splitter should he fall to us (and he did)...no dice. It was like a 90% certainty.

In 06 we had 2 guys were were looking at, and Brew ended up sliding to us unexpectedly. But we still pretty much knew the few guys we were targeting.

In 05 all signs were pointing toward D-Will just as it ended up being, even with a bunch of people (me among them) begging for CP.

In 04 we had zeroed in on Humphries as one pick, and thought for sure we'd be looking at a 2 guard with the other. Many had us taking Monya from Russia, but with Snyder slipping we ended up tabbing him instead. Still, very predictable.

In 03 Pavlovic was almost a given by draft day, though a few thought we'd go for Cabarkapa, Diaw or (my fave) Barbosa.

So its been extremely out of the ordinary to be sitting here on the day of the draft having NO CLUE who we are picking. Literally, I can only think of 3 guys who aren't locks for the top 5-7 picks who I would be willing to bet we will not take. That leaves about 20-25 prospects in play. Its just mind boggling.

But here goes:

Jazz draft Dejuan Blair, PF, Pitt
(might as well dream big, eh?)

I'm gonna go with the big white stiff.

Jazz draft BJ Mullens
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

God, I sure hope not.

I think the Jazz end up drafting Teague.

Casspi is a good option, but I will say Hansborough, since he won't get passed 20.
