Round 1: A, they didn't reach or trade up (a mistake in a draft this even); they picked a guy who I think by the end of the year will get 12-15 minutes a game.

Round 2: B. Low risk pick. Not likely to be the next Millsap, but hard to complain about this pick.

Overall: A-

B

and

I dunno.

Overall B

I don't think that anybody that vital was overlooked. Someone could be the next Boozer, another could be the next Chris Carawell. Nondescript boring draft that was shallow to begin with. There was however a plateue in the first where the Jazz filled a need with a player who could have been drafted earlier.

We'll see.

Well, you have to consider who was left on the board when giving these grades. Essentially we took a guy who was nearly BPA, if not BPA, who also filled a need.

I don't think he'll be much of a factor for us, but, with what was on the table in this draft, that doesn't mean it was a 'bad' pick.

Never heard of hte 2nd round guy. Seems like someoe who will have trouble getting past training camp. Would rather have just picked a prospect overseas and hoped.

Doesn't seem like there were many overseas guys in this draft. The main ones were taken in the first by teams hoping not to have to ever pay them anything. I think Maynor will be a contributor. The 2nd round guy will get cut around the same time as Kevin Lyde has for the past few years. I think Jarron will get another year on the Jazz. That doesn't bother me given his current and accepted role.

I think both were solid picks if not a bit conservative. I like them both and I think that one of Suton and Maynor is really going to help this team going forward. I'll give them a B for now.

A- for Maynor.

I was really hoping for Young but I love this pick.

C for Suton. No clue who he is or what he can do but looked decent.

Maynor looks like a nice fit for the Jazz as he can already run the pick n roll. A-

Suton played for Michigan State, was in the championship game and didn't turn out to be the secret weapon some thought he might be in that game. He had a few big games int he tourney. He is more of a shooting big man, a bit like Koufos or Memo. I don't know why the Jazz keep trying to get these guys. I give a C because he was a good pickup that late, but I don't like his play style. He will go to Europe IMO.

Suton had a great NCAA Tournament, that's for sure.

Hopefully he becomes another Jazz 2nd round steal. It seems hard to think a steal could come from such a large program, but Brad Miller came from Purdue so maybe it will be a good thing.

It should be noted that Goran Suton isn't a Euro stash. He is as American as Kosta. (and every other American)

Also, there is a video of Eric Maynor at the bottom of this page that I thought was pretty sweet. Check it out.

All things considered, I think a B+ sounds right. I was upset that we let Blair slip, but I had Maynor as my next favorite guy. I got a little excited when I saw Holiday falling, surprising myself since I think that he is going to be a bust, but I do think he has some amazing upside if he puts it together and at 20 I would be willing to take that risk. He reminded me just a little of Westbrook, who I hated going into last year's draft, so...

Anyway, I really like Maynor and think he's perfect for the role we'll have him in. Anything to end the days of Knight, Hart, McBrick/The Miltness. I want a bona fide quality backup, even if it means that Jerry is tempted into playing Deron at the 2.

Yeah, I'm that serious about it.

oh...and the 2nd rounder was basically a throw away. Can't expect to get anything of value in a draft that was already devoid of 1st round depth all the way down at #50. However, I remember thinking the same thing when we took Whaley...and then realizing that Marcin Gortat was still on the board. At the time, I thought "hell, what are the chances that Gortat ever becomes anything, its not biggie..."

Ah, well.

Maynor - A
We definitely need a back up b/c Knight is the woat. Every time Deron went out Knight usually **** things up. Maynor will also be a spark of the bench with his scoring ability.

Suton - C
Why do we need another shooting big???????????

I think Price is great periodically small doses. I'm still not convinced he's a great everyday backup PG.
